Dallas has already prepared to cut Dak, before this season started.

They voided the 2025/26 money already.

The June 1 cut is their out. Saves $34,000,000 in 2024 cap.

Add the $10 million in money they won’t be paying Tony also.

Lance is cheap. And talented.
Not sure where you're getting your figures but they don't match spotrac. There's no cap savings next year. It's just a question of how much dead cap to eat.

As for Dallas preparing to cut Dak, the Lance move was made when Dak was coming off an awful season. If you don't think his play in 2023 would change Jerry's mind then you haven't been paying attention to Jerry. He's not been an interception machine this year, which was the issue last season.

Lance is a project. He hasn't shown well when he's had NFL opportunities and a rookie came in for SF last year and rolled in the same offense that Lance did not. You seemed to have talked yourself into him being the next franchise QB but he's done nothing to demonstrate that in 3 years. It's just a hope.

Let me be clear, Dak isn't everything I'd like him to be. This isn't me fan boying for him. It's me trying to see it through the Jones boys eyes because it's their call. Whether or not we agree with them is irrelevant.

Open Spotrac and click on the dead cap money for 2024.

It will expand and list the money figures for 2024 and 2025.

Dak is due 29 mill base and 5 mill roster.

That’s 34 mill in cap savings for 2024.

Sorry but no one deserves $60 million a year unless you're Tom Brady in his prime.

55-60 million? That is outrageous.
Outrageous? You are going to see at least 3 guys including Dak get it this offseason and next year probably see at least 3 get over $70 million. It is called the cost of business in the NFL. Heck, we are going to give Trey Lance over $5 million just to sit the bench next year.

Lance will not be our starter next year or any other. He is a blue chip player that was on a winning college team. Played very well and was expected to be a high draft pick. Maybe he can get it done and it would be great. But Dak is the guy..

Especially when you compare their list of accomplishments. Dak is in year 8 of his career. By year 8 Tom had already won 4 AFCCG's in 5 appearances and 3 super bowl championships.

Dak doesn't come close to comparing with Mahomes either.

This would be the perfect time for a trade. While his ceiling is high.

Maybe Dak should reach out to Troy Aikman and find out how he over came a bad OLine, no running game and a defense that could not stop the run to win three SB's.

I am sure Troy's infinite wisdom will surely be able to help Dak make a SB run.
Troy was the guy who said of Dak's early accuracy issues: either you have accuracy, or you don't.

Dak proved him wrong and *developed* accuracy.
Some really nice passes to Cooks recently too. Like a lot of QBs, Dak ball placement and touch over the years.

Dak is legit. My point was Troy did not have to overcome any of those problems. He was often a bus driver.

Not even a blue chip player. He was a combine athlete that had 1 good season with mediocre stats.

We will need Will McClay to find more Chauncey Golstons and Nahshon Wrights in the draft if we're going to carry this contract with Micah's.
I too yearn for the days of Drew Henson, Clint Stoerner, and Anthony Wright. Oh the things we accomplish with a cheap QB who is complete trash!!!

Why would we want a starting QB with a 72-41 record. That's just silly.

Brady “in his prime” and Mahomes are not available. Jerry Jones has to deal with the contemporary NFL. He’ll pay what he must for a quality quarterback. A known quality. I’m sure he’ll seek to sign Dak to an appropriate contract for a top quarterback in today’s National Football League. It will be between $55 and $60 million per season. Before next season starts some other QB will sign for even more. And so it goes.
