Preseason games necessary?

These guys are pro athletes... Only need a couple games for roster trimming. Starters don't even need to be out there.
Makes the regular season games much better when they are, though.

For me? No. For teams to better understanding what they have on their rosters? Without question.

I think 1-2 preseason games then let teams setup scrimmages/joint practices with teams

Preseason is indeed necessary. for rookies and fringe players the more lengthy ,..for coaches to get a better evaluation, for the tackling
and live game conditioning and hit mode, for players trying to get rapport and use to new players for even officials ..

But this is a striking, frightening, unusually unique time event and crisis in our global history - that we simply have to make adjustments accordingly.
How can we both best survive and function as close to normalcy as possible ? Eliminating preseason was thought to be one of them,, as a pre-caution,.

Put me in the NMPF club: "No-More-Preseason-Football". Teams can do plenty of evaluation in practices, scrimmages, etc. However, I'm sure we'll still have some so owners can get more revenue.
