If we don't get disruptive pressure on the Q.B., Rivers or any good Q.B. we will lose. San Diego got rid of the ball before we could get pressure and our defensive coordinator did not adjust, It was probably one of the most frustrating games I have ever watched. Our offense needed to run the ball to keep San Diego off the field, I know that this may not be the answer, but at least it would have helped during that game. Sometimes you just have to adjust during the game.

Pressure wasn't the issue. Originally I thought it was. The coverage is what killed us. They killed us in the flats, and made us pay for not bumping at the line of scrimmage. When a QB, especially of Rivers caliber, only does a 3 step drop and it's out, there is NO Dline in the league that could stop it, or get pressure.

It was a terrific gameplan by Whisenhunt and McCoy. They new there Oline couldn't hold up to our pressure so they beat us by getting the ball out quickly. Our 2nd and 3rd lines didn't hold up there end of the bargain however.

Whisenhunt OWNS the cowboys, that guy has outcoached us every time going back to his tenure at Arizona

Complete 3rd downs and you will keep the other team on the sidelines. Stop them on 3rd downs and it will keep them on the sidelines.

I agree Aven8, I was just stating that we did not adjust as soon as we realized what was happening. We are often reduced to this too often on offense and on defense

Agree on the pressure issue. A lack of pressure on Rivers was the #1 problem in this game, IMO. Rivers held the ball over 3 seconds multiple times. That's long enough to expect a good pass rushing team to get pressure.

I don't think running the ball just to increase the time of possession would have been that helpful. If running the ball more resulted in more 1st downs or more yards than passing, then running more might have been good; however, regardless of how long you possess the ball, they get another possession each time that you either punt or score. If they score a TD each time they get the ball, then they're going to win regardless of how long you held onto the ball unless you also score a TD each time that you get the ball. If you use 5 minutes to score a Field Goal and they take 1 minute to score a TD, you lose.

Our defense seemed gassed and running the ball would have given them some time to rest is all I meant.

Ball control can be accomplished via the pass or the run. And the Cowboys would have been better served limiting the amount of time Rivers was on the field.

Nah the defense just sucked. They rested all halftime and sucked right after. They just sucked period

I agree with aven and disagree with anyone blaming the pass rush for the Charger loss.

If a team is going to throw quick passes and you just let them consistently come off the line uncontested then you'll never get to the QB.

I was upset to come on Cowboyszone after the game and see all the complaining about the DL.

Their #1 focus should be to score before Rivers got the ball back. I don't care if that's one 90 yard TD or a time consuming drive down the field as long as it results in a TD.
