Prestige v. Respect?

There is a fine line between prestige and respect, it is prestigious to be a United States Congressman but very few people truly respect you. Many people will respect you if you are a New York City Firefighter but prestige, that doesn't come with it.


Which do you value more, would you prefer people to genuinely respect you or to admire your achievement of attaining a high level of prestige?

Your comparison is more Blue collar vs White collar. People probably respect people who are blue collar, because they are more "hard working".

Respect is earned regardless, and not everyone is going to respect you even if you have prestige.

Treat people with respect and most likely they will treat you the same way. Try and act all prestigious and most likely people may resent you.

Be yourself and take life as it is without wishing you could be one or the other.
