Who cares about size if he can't play.

Now I don't know because I haven't studied him but I hate it when people just mention size and speed.

I would rather have fowler who is smaller

Fowler did little in the Bama game.

I'm not saying preston smith is a bad player. I don't know I didn't watch him yet. But now I will study him. I have watched and studied Fowler. Fowler is a beast and is all over the field. Not a big sacks guy but gets pressure and tackles for loss.

I just don't like when people post a guys name and size and just want a guy based on size speed and combine numbers. Post why you like him and tell me something about the kid.

Little as in sacks but he got alot of pressure and did recover return a fumble.

Let's see what Preston smith does vs Bama.

My comment wasnt meant to say who I thought would be the superior pro. I was merely saying the Bama was likely the most talented opposition Fowler will face this year (maybe FSU) and I would have like to see him show a little better, thats all.

listen supercowboy8 take for what's iits worth

like there were no stories about him,

Smith, named SEC defensive lineman of the week, intercepted a pass and later blocked a field goal attempt that was returned by teammate Jay Hughes for a touchdown during Mississippi State's 49-0 over Southern Mississippi.

Mullen said Smith's ability to make game-changing plays is important, but it's his improved consistency that has been vital. He also said Smith is like many seniors — a veteran playing with desperation because he knows it's his last season of college football and final chance to impress NFL scouts.

"I think he's a guy that understands he would like to play football beyond college, and if he's going to do that he better take himself to another level and have a great year to help our team," Mullen said.

Who helped themselves?

DE Preston Smith, SR, Mississippi State (6-5 | 267 | 4.92 | #91)
An underrated player on an underrated team, Smith was one of the stars for the Bulldogs Saturday night as Mississippi State escaped Baton Route with a 34-29 victory over LSU. Through four games, he is among the team leaders in tackles (14), tackles for loss (5.0), sacks (3.0), passes defended (3), forced fumbles (1) and blocked kicks (2). He finished with a pair of tackles for loss against LSU, accounting for 16 negative yards for the Tigers' offense, and was a regular in the Tigers' backfield all four quarters. Smith passes the eye test with his tall, long frame and firm build, using his length and power to force his way past blockers. He shows improved hand use to engage and dispose of blockers with a heavy punch to jolt blockers, especially when he has a step or two of momentum. Smith isn't a quick-twitch mover and is part of a rotation that allows him to be fresh, but he has played much better than the undrafted grades he received from scouts before the season. He is working his way up draft boards and is one of a handful of Bulldog defenders who look like they'll be playing on Sundays soon.

RECENT NEWS

Mississippi State senior DE Preston Smith's draft stock is up after he won SEC defensive lineman of the week honors three times across his first four games, notes ESPN Insider's Steve Muench and Kevin Weidl.
In those four games, Smith has 14 tackles, five for loss, three sacks, three passes defended, a forced fumble and a pair of blocked kicks. "He's an excellent hand fighter with the length to keep blockers off his frame, and the upper-body strength to shed," Muench and Weidl wrote. "He more than held his own working against LSU OT La'el Collins, who graded out as a fringe first-round pick in the preseason. There is also a lot to like about Smith's ability to kick inside and rush the passer. LSU didn't have an answer for him when he lined up over the center. Finally, it's worth pointing out that he's blocked two field goal attempts this year." Muench and Weidl aren't the only two passing along glowing reports about Smith's NFL stock. CBS Sports' Dane Brugler wrote last week that Smith "is working his way up draft boards." Sep 30 - 11:25 PM
