Moss all day long, Calvin does drop and fumble way too many balls. Believe Moss had more natural hands too.

Oh, my vote: Megatron.
Randy Moss brought a bad attitude to teams. I never liked his vibe, and it doesn't surprise me that he never won a Super Bowl.
I even remember on the last play of the Super Bowl, if he runs as fast as he can, shows some effort, he likely catches a touchdown and the Patriots preserve their 19-0 season. But it appears he's lollygagging on the play. It's typical of him. He never gave any more effort above his talent.
I've seen too many players like him, supremely talented but just don't have that "will" that pushes them to greatness.
If he or Deion Sanders had the work ethic of a Jerry Rice or a Walter Payton, they would be in the top 5 of the greatest players of all times.
The fact they're among the top players ever shows you how supremely gifted they were.

in all fairness, moss did that in year 10 or 11. Calvin is in what, year 7?

add in johnson isn't very likely to play with a qb as good as Brady or opposite a reviever as good as Welker

Yeah. Let's stop making excuses. It is what it is. There are no asterisks by Moss' record

Moss and it's not even close.

Randy is faster, better body control, better hands, and he has better awareness then Calvin does. Calvin is much more physical though, and he has a lot more routes available to him then Moss.

Randy Moss ever get 300 yards receiving in a game? Ever get 1900 yards in a season?

Did Calvin ever catch a one handed TD pass over the best corner in the league? Well, Randy did it at age 34 ... :D

Also, I like Calvin a ton, but I just think Moss was more dominate then him in his prime. Calvin's career isn't over yet though, he could potentially elevate himself in the same discussion as Rice or even the 2nd best if he keeps up his play and longevity. The odds are slim, but if someone does it, it will be CJ.

Lost in this discussion of Moss' superior talent to Megatron, is the reoccuring habit of taking plays off and having no heart that negates a lot of it. What's the use in having a receiver than is faster than Megatron with better hands, when on any given play, he'll give you a C+ effort.

I'll take Megatron, at least I know what I'm getting on every play.

The subtexts of this thread are intriguing - we can absolve our passing on Moss in the draft along with knocking down Megatron who used us like a kleenex a few weeks ago. Everything a Cowboy fan could want!

Someone said they'd take Moss on a deep jump ball? Seriously? That's the one kind of throw CJ was genetically designed in a government lab for.

On any given play he may give you a c+ effort, but that was still good enough for him to post the 2nd best stats from a WR in league history.

I'd take Jerry Rice over Michael Irvin if that's what your implying.

What asterisks are by Calvin Johnson's records? Truth is, as great as Moss was, his best season by far was with Brady in 2007 at an age Johnson hasn't even gotten to yet

There is no asterisk by the 23 TDs Randy Moss caught in 2007. There should be an asterisk by the 22 TDs Jerry Rice caught in 1987 because the strike/lockout caused Rice to miss 4 games. I imagine he would have caught a few more TDs that year had he been able to play in those games.

Megatron and it isnt close for me. I will take the complete WR who can go across the middle and doesnt take plays off.

To be fair the consequences for going across the middle were a lot more severe before Megatrons NFL career started. That being said I would take the player I can rely on giving max effort 100% of the time
