Primer for tonight - 4th & Long Vids - 5/18/09 *Merge*

i liked the shows intensity, but it's just another vehicle for jerry to get publicity around the Cowboys in the off season. We will never fly under the radar again, and I understand that, but what other team is having a reality show that holds a roster spot for their team? It's kind of silly if you ask me.

Just imagine the hype around the player who wins...........another circus comes to Dallas. Blah

I dislike that Eric Jackson was blaming an external factor on his failures. Be a man and blame yourself.

Sounds like some current Cowboys unfortunately.

The show sounded awful from all the bad rap it got on this board, but after watching it looks really cool. As long as they keep it focused on football and not reality nonsense with "challenges" that aren't drill-related, it could turn out to be an awesome show and we might just find someone that's worth keeping around.

It would be even more intriguing if they got a better class of participants. There are a few players who might have made a camp roster, but most simply aren't good enough and never were.

Yeah, I have this bad feeling that the conditioning day one on this show was more severe than any practice the Cowboys had this year. At the very least, I hope there are less days off, and more hitting in 2009's practices.

I would bet money that nobody practices their guys that hard during the season.

They're going to run these guys into the ground on this show.

You do know that Wade is still here right?

And that first day for these guys was much harder than anything the Cowboys have seen in the last two seasons.

And harder than 31 other teams too. Not just the Cowboys.

Hmm.. I forgot about this show being on last night. I wonder if they will rebroadcast it.

I am shocked. Although there were still some of the lame cliche' elements of a reality show , the opening drills proved that Irvin, Bates, and Avezanno were taking this seriously.

Erick Jackson from UT
Montrell Jones from Tennesee
Holley from UNC were legitimate college studs.

Random thoughts...

I think he'll win the show.

Im kinda shocked he isn't in the league.

You need the game to match your passion and Choice doesn't have that. The person who did is in ......................well you know.;)

yeah, but Choice gave his speech to the team to pump them up........you know who gave his speeches to the media to pump himself up

I did switch over to this show during commercials of the *real* football that was being shown -- Emmitt's separated shoulder game -- and I can't believe some some of the things I'm reading about the "coaching" on this show. Coaching football players, whether at head coach or just one position, is a lot more than just berating a bunch of scrubs and running them until they puke. Bates *was* a special teams coach, and he sucked at it. Avezzano was a good ST coach at one time, but he made a fool of himself on the 2002 Hard Knocks with his endless profanities and tirades. Funny, all his hysterics and "intensity" didn't help us that year.

Besides, this is a freaking reality show. These guys can do all kinds of re-takes, and editors can take out the parts that didn't come off well.

Finally, most of the guys on this show are true scrubs. How could they puke so much from what they were doing? Because one, they're not in shape to start with, and two, they're simply not top athletes. Do you really think Terence Newman or Marion Barber would puke from that workout, even right now in the offseason? Of course not. I still remember a few years ago when there was talk in the papers about if the NFL should be able to draft players out of high school (because of something going on with the NBA at the time), and Bob Stoops talked about how he knew almost none of the kids could handle it from conditioning alone, because they were all so hurting and sick after their spring workouts at OU. He cited Roy Williams as a guy who breezed through it like it was a walk in the park, but how guys like him were extremely rare. And that's Roy Williams, who we all know was never a physical specimen and was always known for being lax on his conditioning.

I watched the first ten minutes, but then I went to bed. Once I heard one player talk about being screwed by his agent and another talk about how he tore up his knee getting out of the tub, I had enough.

These weren't just hard luck cases, they were barely mediocre talents with poor luck and excuses.

32 of 'em my friend. Called the cheerleading squad..................embarrassing to say the least. The construction of Cowboys Stadium will be aired on Discovery, write it down................

This just shows you the special bond that Jerry and Michael will always have. For Jerry to guarantee a 80 man spot for the winner of Mike's show... We all know that whoever comes out of this will not make the final 53 man squad. That being said, should be fun to watch the show...

I missed that part, but whenever they showed the guy, he had "screwed by agent" underneath his name

I snickered

his agent then probably laid it down that he had no shot to play in the NFL, and he won't get over it

How do you get 'screwed' by your agent? Can't you just walk on undrafted and make a roster if you got game?

I forget which guy, but he said that his agent was trying to package him with another player. I guess get teams to do a 2 for 1 deal.

Its his own fault for hiring this guy.

It was Erick Jackson.

Probably the DB with the best chance to make it.
