I watched that game and justin blackmon is good but imagine prince against a maclin, moss, or any elite reciever in the nfl.

I don't have an issue w you not wanting Prince..but if you think we are going to find a corner who will never have a bad game you are in for trouble..

Plus, Blackmons performance on Prince is a wee bit overrated..it wasn't that bad

Prince is a good CB and will be a very good NFL CB but not for Dallas. If you see the game vs Blackmon, how many times does he actually press Blackmon. He plays up but never gets his hands on him. Dallas and Ryan likes to play press man cover. You have to jam the WR at the line or quick WRs like Maclin will beat you.

Prince will be a great CB in a zone defense. Tampa Bay, Indy, New Orleans, Detriot he would fit in great.

Prince is going to be a very good CB in the NFL. One sample size with a couple of bad plays is not indicative of a guy's entire body of work. LOTS of guys get fooled on flea flickers, even in the NFL.

Before I even clicked this thread, I knew EXACTLY what was going to be posted. :laugh2:

Now if I could only use those skills for the $300 million dollar lottery on Friday.

The blackmon files. Oh how I have gone through them myself.

I like supercowboy8's rational on prince.

The bomb was a trick play. 9 times out of 10 any cb is got with that type of play

From Gil Brandt
Amukamara has the size, speed and awareness to start from day one and turn into one of the league's finer players at the cornerback position. Takes advantage of his instincts and smarts in zone coverage but also has the ability to hold up when asked to cover on an island. Possesses good overall ball skills and hands. Will help out and support the run. Durable, aggressive, competitive and hard-working. No major weaknesses in his game, but isn't an elite, quick-twitched athlete or a true burner in terms of straight-line speed. Amukamara will likely be selected early in the first round.

Says he's very good in a zone but is also good in man to man.

I really dont want a CB with our top pick, but the one advantage to drafting PA or PP is if they dont work out so well at CB, you can probably move either to FS and still have a quality player for your investment.

I havent watched as much of PA as PP, but I've been in the camp that thinks PP will be a much better FS than a CB in the NFL.

I think we'd be lucky to get the kid, personally.

What's usually overlooked in the "Game that proves Prince sucks" is that the bombs happened in the first half. After half time he got his head right and Blackmon only had one catch the rest of the game.

I say he will be a better safety than CB. Even in a heavy zone defense, I still don't like him going against the speedy WRs. I would rather him play safety is a Tampa2 D against them.

I wasn't a huge fan of Prince and watching that small sample of him vs. Blackmon didn't help the cause. However, upon further examination, Prince didn't really play as poorly as everyone suggests.

Here's what I observed:
He slipped on few plays. I can't say if it was because of his cleats or the turf but he didn't seem surefooted that day.

0:42 - He had Blackmon covered perfectly, but the pass was better and Blackmon made the catch. (The announcers even say that he had perfect coverage which gets cut off.)

1:14 - The PA where Prince committed the PI, I'll give you. He got toasted BUT to save a TD, he did what he did. To me that's smart...15 yard penalty vs. giving up a TD...gimme the 15 all day everyday.

2:00 - The flea flicker - helluva route by Blackmon. He got BEAT like he stole something.

2:55 - Looks like Blackmon was the initial read. He was shut down. Pass goes to the opposite side and was nearly picked.

3:07 - Blackmon covered well again.

I like the kid. He's a smart kid and definitely a student of the game. He's humble. But he lacks that extra gear to keep up with the DeSean Jacksons, the Jeremy Maclins, etc. of the world. He might've been OK without that in college but not in the NFL. You can't have pedestrian speed in the NFL if you're a corner.

Have you seen him play. He is good in off man cover. He plays great vs slower WRs in Man cover but he doesn't Press Man cover. Look at Blackmon, you have to get your hands on him at the line and redirect him and then turn and run. Prince just stood there, let Blackmon pick his lane and then Prince just turned and ran with him. When your playing a quicker player you have to hit them in the first 5 yards. Prince doesn't do that.

Ryan has his CBs press man 80% of the time. He hardly runs zone coverage or plays 10 yards off man cover.

What is Prince goingto do vs Jackson or any other speed WR when he plays them. You have to press those guys, you have to get your hands on them. Thats what this video shows me, that Prince relies on his speed to much. He thinks he can let Blackmon run by him with out a Press but Prince thinks he has the speed to catch up. I don't like Prince in a press man coverage, I have never seen him do it to a WR a great deal.

I have no problem with Prince I think the guy is going to be an excellent CB in the NFL.

the only thing is, is that when else has Prince played a NFL caliber WR and was great. This is the only time I think I have seen Prince play vs a NFL WR and it didn't look to good. Sure he did great vs WRs who aren't future top 15 picks.

This is getting ridiculous. The guy has started for 2 years(29 consecutive) and played in 47 straight games and the only evidence of him giving up catches is 1 game by arguably one of the most talented receiver to have come out in years. Question to the OP, is there any more tape on him being dragged by other receivers? From what I hear he has better technique than any corner in the draft. Surely there are more games you are basing your opinion on.

That is the issue I have with the negitive of Prince is everything is being focused on 1 game. The reason he is rated as high as he is by most who cover the draft is because he has proven over the course of his college career that he is an excellent CB. No one is going to rate you as high as the experts have for no reason they rate him this high because he has proven it over and over.

When did any corner play NFL caliber receivers in college?

Darrelle Revis went to Pittsburgh. Who did he play?

Nnamdi Asomugha went to California. Who did he play?

You can learn that. He has the size and strength to do it. I'd rather a kid have to learn to jam better than have to learn to play the ball since that's so much more about instincts than tape study and getting coached up. You could say the same thing about playing the run from the CB spot, something Prince has no problem with. Try teaching a corner to do that.

You aren't kidding. The Blackmon game has been brought up about a hundred times already when people want to talk about how slow Prince is, how he can't cover elite receivers, how he can't play man, etc.

It's fine if it raises questions in someones mind, all we really have access to is Youtube, TV and in the rare case, going to games live. But to say "I don't want Prince because he got beat by Blackmon", is a little silly.
