We got arguably our best offensive and defensive players in that draft and we got downgraded to a C+? ok :laugh2:

If we had a do over of that draft Bryant never drops to us and Lee is probably gone in the 1st round

Heckuva draft by Seattle

um, yea, having two early picks in round 1 helps, lol.

dallas was to select 27th in this draft.

I agree about applauding the Pats but Seattle had a great draft because they had great ammunition. Part of a draft grade should be what you had to work with and how you executed it.

I give both those drafts A's but it hardly knocks Dallas down to a C+.

A "C" is about right. They got two starters out of a draft which is the average of what you want plus some depth/role players so a C fits.

Um, we didn't just two "starters" -- we landed arguably our best offensive and defensive. A draft is pretty successful if you are able to land ONE player the caliber of Lee and Dez, much less two.

If Dez and Lee were "just" starters I'd agree. But that's a rather silly way to grade them.

Dez in 3 seasons has 200 receptions, 2800+ yards receiving at 27 TDs.

That's insane for a 3rd year WR.
For instance Demaryious Thomas whom the Broncos drafted earlier the same day has 50+ less catches, over 500 less yards and double digit fewer TDs ... yet gets credited as a plus draftee.

Sean Lee has 7 INTs to lead Dallas during his tenure... and 195 tackles even with his injury time off. He played at a Pro Bowl level for 2011 and the first 6 games of 2012.

btw...
in his first 3 seasons michael irvin had 78 catches for ~1400 yards and 12 TDs.

ken norton jr in his first 3 seasons had 206 tackles and 0 ints.

You know it would be different if our initial grade wasn't a B- but he gives us a lower grade as if Sean Lee and Dez didn't live it to the hype? He gave us a B- because of Dez's "character issues" and Dez has become one of the best receivers in the league.

Giving it a B- again actually wouldn't be terrible.

I'd give it a B to be honest.

Just citing why a C+ sounds about right

Picking at 8-8 slot is a big a problem for us. Teams like New England and Baltimore uncover gems late. Something we have not been able to do very well

Who has Baltimore and the Pats picked up late? Because their last few drafts haven't been very good.

Wow, never seen that comparison between the two...Dez has more than doubled Irvin's production.

I'm sure that the way the game has changed is partially responsible for that, but man, Dez is a monster.

along with the team around Irvin his 1st 3 years. Apples and oranges if you ask me.

Dez is good, but don't see him being Irvin.

Look at the Ravens who got a B and drafted about where Dallas was slotted. They traded down into a bust in the second round, got a good but not exceptional starting tight end, got a second tight end who has not been that productive, got a good rotational defensive end.

I'd much rather have Dallas' draft of two impact players that what the Ravens got.

Irvin blew out his knee the 2nd year and wasn't all the way back the 3rd year.
