Quick hits

• Let's see. Randy Moss and Terrell Owens are bad dudes. Stay away, teams thought. You know how I felt about all that. I'd deal with them and reap the rewards. That's what the Patriots are doing with Moss and what the Cowboys are doing with Owens. They both had big opening games. One more thing about Moss: Does former Raiders coordinator Tom Walsh still want to tell stories about how he's slowed down?
• The name of Yeremiah Bell might not be a household name to most, but his loss will really hurt the Miami Dolphins defense. Bell was a rising star at free safety and he now will miss the rest of the season with a torn Achilles tendon. His range made him a real asset in the back of the Dolphins secondary.
• I agree with Clark Judge. The Cowboys should get to Tony Romo soon with a contract extension. I think he's going to put up huge numbers for the Cowboys. By the way, Jason Witten is a rising star at tight end catching those passes from Romo.
• The loss of nose tackle Jason Ferguson for the year is a big hit for the Cowboys. Jay Ratliff will take over as the nose tackle. Ratliff is a player that coach Wade Phillips raved about to me before the season. Now we'll find out about him.

 • Ratliff will handle business....
 • Romo should be signed at the end of the season...
 • Witten has been an outstanding TE for 3 years running now, he's late..
 • T.O. and Randy are the most dominant players at their positions when used right...

Romo should be signed at the end of the season...

Any more games like last week and it will have to be before then. He's gonna cost way too much if Jerry waits too long...and the prospect of being an FA is very dangerous. Even if he just wants to test the waters.

We've already missed the boat for signing him to a reasonable contract. At this point, the only question is 'how unreasonable?'

A footnote to the Moss bandwagon is that the guy basically gave nothing in Oakland despite wanting to be there...I've never seen TO give up and that's exactly what Moss did...Between the two, I'd take TO everyday

Oakland's OC worked at some bed and breakfast for years prior.

Seriously, if you were an offensive player under him, how would you feel?:laugh1:

I have no concerns about Ratliff's play while he is on the field. My only concern was about how long he would have to be on the field. I'm cautiously optimistic that Remi will help in that regard. If he can just go in there and pound away for a few snaps, he'll help a ton.

As for the TO thing, I think the Cowboys are probably going out of their way to keep him happy. But you know what, you sometimes do that for a guy with that talent. As long as he isn't running the whole show (and I don't think he is), you shouldn't have a big problem.

And yeah, Romo is going to be expensive. That guy is pretty special.

Still, loafing?...I mean, come on...You're supposed to be a professional...Tim Brown gave his all for years even when the Raiders were doing nothing...You're a pro, you act like one.

I will concede that when Randy admitted to quitting on plays in Minn. that that was messed up.

But.... Oakland was a flippin joke... no order, no control, no team, bad players and a bed and breakfast guy running the offense.

No one on this board would respect that organization and its "leaders" in that scenario.

Moss gets a pass for Oakland. Bullicheat knew this.

Moss did NOT want to be in Oakland. He put on a nice big fake smile when they traded for him, but he was far from thrilled. Not sure where you heard otherwise.

I'm sure Jerry has pretty good idea about how much Romo will cost. But I also think he wants to be darned sure he's got a franchise QB who can take us to the SB and win. He wants to see how he handles himself against the Bears, NE, Eagles etc and how he matures as a QB. I see Jerry waiting until the bye week or more likely the two games following the bye week (against Eagles in Philly and Giants in NY) before sealing the deal.

I agree-if I'm Jerry, I would wait to see in the coming weeks how he continues to performs.

We face a much better D with the Fins IN Miami next week, so this is going to be a great test for Tony.

I'll take T.O.'s blocking over Moss's every time.

Yeah... for Jerry... I think its more about "is Romo the one" than it is about the money.... the money is the easy part.

If we lost Romo due to free agency... I'd go berserk. Words can't describe how angry I would be.

You are safe then. Jerry wont let that happen. I have no concerns or doubts about that. We wont even have to compete with other teams for Romo.

No worries

I think Chad Johnson has long since supplanted To as the biggest ******* at the wideout position that this league has to offer.

Knock on wood, TO has been a good teammate as a Cowboy, the press has been the drama queen.

They need to sign Romo this year so they can structure the contract in such a way to burn up as much of the CAP space remaining as possible.

Romo is smart enough not to leave, why would you leave this situation? Dallas has the cap room, no other contender needs a quarterback or has the dollars to pay him.

If Dallas goes 11-5 or better and secures a first round bye then he is going to get tier one money.

If they are a wildcard he'll probably resign for a smaller sum but still healthy contract.
