Problem solved, Jerra

Maybe Jerra will actually cut deadwood so we can have both: a credible O line and that Samuels fella.

I like Samuel but I have a feeling who ever gets him will overpay to do so. I notice this each year in FA, these guys want the moon and stars and most of the time teams don't get exactly what they pay for. I like to see Dallas look at mid-range FA and try to strike it rich in the draft

I dont see us signing either Samual or Clements, although it would be nice. However I heard the name Nick Harper come up as a possible corner on the market, along with saftey Mike Doss. I dont know if they are going to be cap casulties or their contracts are up. IMO I would like to see someone like Harper (not a top level corner but very serviceable) come in if Henry was going to me moved to saftey. It wouldnt cost us as much, thus allowing us to address other needs.

That is the kind of thinking that makes for mediocrity.

I agree with you that we could strike gold in the draft, but, realistically, how . . . realistic is that? And even if you do, it's usually a two-year or more project with draftees.

Samuels is ready to go.
And he is proven.

Yes, he's expensive, but so are most blue-chippers.

And a good way to get back into cap hell is by over paying for players. Dallas spent enough years were all we could afford were guys on their last leg or some guy looking for a second chance because we were strapped and I would hate to see us back in that position. I think you use FA to help fill gaps as well as trying to get your own FA signed and the draft to build your team. Let me also add Dallas will have to fork out some big money in June on TO.

Certainly there is a tightrope of overspending like in years past and not spending enough when a blue chipper like Samuels or a T.O. come along.

If you look at the successful teams they have a good balance of highly paid players who produce at a high level and the lesser role-playing athletes who fills needs and niches.

We would be better off going CB at 22 than bringing in either Samuels or Clements.

B/c New England has been average for the last 4 years with all of their average players

I don't know. I wasn't family, so I kept on driving.

I saw "Deliverence." I didn't need a building to fall on me to get my attention.

As mentioned other teams have been very successful despite not going out and spending a king’s ransom for high priced FA who tend to get over paid as teams get into bidding wars to get them. Samuels is good but at what price? I don't see that move as a must sign. I think Henry playing CB and Watkins playing FS will work if Dallas can get a push rush without the pass rush even Samuels is not going to look all world.
