I am now hearing fans who are freaking out over the Felix injury.

I have heard players come back from turf toe and are never the same.

I do not know. Does anyone here know if he can make a 100% recovery without losing speed and cutting ability?

I know Duce Staley came back from turf toe, he was bothered by it for a year or 2 I think, but came back

As an athlethic trainer, I can say IMO, it really depends on the person and how they heal. Time will tell.

Can he come back 100%? Yes he can! Will he is a different question?

Between the torn hammy and now the toe injury IMO he maybe out until training camp next year. Both are tough injuries to recovery from.

in deions case, he was advised not to take the shot in the toe, but deion wanted to win in the playoffs, thats what ruined deion, he shouldnt have taken the shot in his toe

hopefully with technology now, felix toe will be ok

Not exactly, turf toe is more like you jamming your big toe.

It hurts like a son of gun too. Just speaking form experience. It happened to me my freshman year in college along with 3rd degree sprain of the inside part of my ankle. Took me a while to recover from both.

Maybe it's not technically turf toe, but what if it's worse than turf toe?

Pick6 - does this mean surgery or is this wait and allow it to heal?

Wade said today in the PC that one reason they put Felix on the shelf now was so he'd be okay for the future.

He said Felix should be 100% once he recovers. But if he'd tried to play on it all year, there could have been long-lasting complications.

BTW, he also said this was the worst level of turf toe one could have... And yes, he is having surgery from a specialist in North Carolina.

Oh great. Kinda undercuts that 100% guarantee.

Is there such a thing as a hamstring specialist he can start working with, too? I mean, while we're at it,let's get him everything he will need. Can you say,'Hello,Tashard'?

Hamstrings you need to drink lots of water and stretch them and work them out. I shredded mine 2 years ago not a slight tear like felix I tore the entire muscle (according to the doc) I was purple from lower part all the way to my Buttocks. (I got lucky I did not tear my Tendon that is when it gets bad)

Ice; Inflammatory and stretching for the 1st couple weeks after I tore it and I was starting to feel better. The hardest part because of work schedule and stuff was muscle strength and my leg getting tired quickly (was what took me the longest) but with the staff and work out from the trainers will speed that part up.

I popped mine playing softball at age 36. First time in a lot of years of sports. I was rounding 3rd and all of a sudden, a pop that you could literally hear 10 feet away came from my hammy. Could barely walk for a few weeks and I iced it constantly. Hurt like hell.
I haven't had any more problems with it since (8yrs) but then again I don't do a lot of full on sprinting anymore either.

Turf toe is not like jamming your toe. You can get turf toe FROM jamming your toe, but they aren't the same thing.

A torn tendon is another issue and worse than the previous two.

Turf toe in itself can become a chronic issue, it could always bother Felix, and like getting a bad ankle sprain, the join becomes more susceptible to repeated injury.

In my opinion, this is a very big deal. It could shorten his career before he's even really gotten off the ground, I'd have rather he had a broken bone than a chronic joint issue in his feet, especially for a speed back.

I really hope he makes it back at full strength, the simple fact that they shut him down for the year should tell you how serious this is. What makes me mad is that he hurt it rehabbing, that shouldn't happen.

Jonathon Stewart of the Carolina Panthers had the same injury and surgery right around the draft, and he seems to be having a pretty good rookie season.

From what I've read, it's only a chronic problem if you try to play on it for a while and permanently damage the joint. He didn't do that. Theoretically, surgery will repair the ligament, and he'll be fine by June.
