Yeah, I hate that position flex crap. Ruined many potential careers IMO.
i don't mind 'flex' if it's more pertaining to backups and rotation types.
That comes in very handy on both injury situation subs and also game day active list with the numbers too.

But not with invested projected starters, that's when it does stunt a player's growth, ..ala Byron Jones at FS, instead of CB.

His instincts for linebacker aren’t all that great.

His instincts for rushing the QB are rare.
Ditto with Von Miller who off the ball, wont wont make great INT plays, or a master coverage guy, but his marks come up big time as a pass rusher.

But Parsons is being used too often like a DE, and taking on 340 lb OT's on virtually an every down basis, is gonna eventually wear him out.

Be different if he were in a similar role as Miller or Hasson Riddick., or a 3-4 scheme such as TJ Watt is playing in Pittsburgh.

The penny will drop eventually, but it will be too late. I think Dan Quinn needs to explain why he doesn't use Parsons like the players you quote

Flex is a good thing. It's only bad when you make it your primary draft strategy, then it's stupid. We misused "flex".

Darren Woodson played both S spots and CB at times. His "flexing" was a very good thing.

TNew used to play slot when the matchups warranted it.

Jerry gave you a bad taste in your mouth w/ his "flex" because he made it a primary draft strategy.

Shouldnt this be in the ROSTER ZONE? If your going to do this for EVERY player how about putting in the right place?
It pertains to the team, not really roster related as to transactions.
Why do you care?

He provides a strong rotation.

There is nothing to complain about here.

If we drafted him in round 1 then sure it would be ok to be upset. For where we got him I’m happy with how he plays. Good player imo.
I agree. He needs to continue to add size and strength. His play style is with strong leverage and hands. He seems to have pretty decent instincts. Look at some plays he made against the run and he flashed a little. He is the kinda guy that can develop into a starting role or solid rotational piece.

I'm a Golston fan, but would much rather him be viewed as a 3T that can occasionally kick outside rather than vice versa. Him and OSA really gives you a solid 3T rotation with the major issue being that neither is a true run stopper. That's the one piece that I would still love to see added at DT is a 300 pounder who can be that early down run stuffer at the 3T position. For the longest time I thought Gallimore would settle into that role nicely, but the guy just seems to not be able to read/react to blocks.

Last year was Golston’s first since Quinn moved him to 3T. His first year he was primarily a big end.

It took him all year but by the end of the season, he was playing much better and making some plays in the backfield and pressuring the QB. He looked good in the last game and the playoffs.

As an end he had average length, good strength, and not great speed. However, as a 3 tech, he has really good length, good speed and quickness, but a little down on his anchor.

If he continues to improve, he could be a really good situational pass rusher inside. This season should let us know if he can do it or not. I have hope because he improved so much last year, he’s always had good strength, and he rushed really well inside at Iowa.

I always put big stock in big games, and who's on the field making plays or who does Coach trust with everything on the line. Golston was in the game vs the 49ers helping stop the run...DQ trusted him to do a job the other DEs (besides DLaw) hadn't done.

Golston had 11 tackles vs the Commodes. That's a good game for a LB, but for a DL is just crazy. Fans want instant results, and lack patience, but Chauncey showed a little something to end the season.
