Progress Report: Gallup Takes Another Step Forward

Gallup is a great 2nd reciever. Don't think he will transition into a great first as he seems to disappear alot.

Well the same could be said for Cooper....granted that is his MO around the league however you still need to cover/ double cover him

Michael Gallup, AKA "3rd. round compensatory pick" should have another productive season. There's only so many balls to go around with Gallup, Cooper, lamb, Wilson, Jarwin, Schultz, Elliott and Pollard. But Gallup will no doubt make his share of plays for us before he moves on to greener pastors. He represented good value as a third round pick. The ugly side of hitting on a draft pick is that you face the real possibility of not being able to retain his services because of the cap.

Never bought into this "Only so many balls to go around"
There's not a quota on how many passes a WR can get.

That's true, who knows which receiver has the favorable matchup that week, he could see 10 -12 targets. But when you have talent spread across the board I think it affects distribution a little bit as you work to get all playmakers involved.

Just my two cents... Damn I'm out of change:facepalm:

If you trade him it has to be for a second round pick or better because if you keep him another year and let him walk we get a third round pick as comp.
I’d wait and see if some team that thinks it’s a contender has a serious injury early on and gets desperate then we and try to get a second and a another late pick or a second and a D player in a trade.

Another option is you trade Gallup and a 2nd to move back into the 1st and grab your higherst rated DT or OT. Or a safety if the value is there

I like Gallup and have no problems keeping him another year. But if the opportunity is there, Jerry should take advantage

But this is Jerry we are talking about.

Good that the drops were down, but I'd cash out now. We have plenty of receiving targets on offense. Cash out Gallup now into picks and use them for defense.
Other teams need Gallup more than we do.

I agree with this, especially if the pick is mid-3rd or higher.

Gallup and Dak need each other. I see folks thinking Gallup getting traded away but I don't think so. Amari Cooper will be gone before that happens.

Question Gallup and CeeDee or CeeDee and Cooper?

Until Cooper has the foot injury last more than 3 games........

Plus he has bad taste in women.

or... wait till next year and Cooper's contract is structured to release him with little damage. Sign Gallup and avoid Cooper's injuries

Didn't realize it was a 3rd thought itd be lower. I agree then for sure. Better to get a 2nd for him then a 3rd and him Leave via fa.

Cowboys need to find a way to keep WR Michael Gallup. He keeps getting better and is a deep threat for this Offense, even though he doesn't have deep speed. He simply knows how to get enough separation and has excellent hands to stretch opposing Defenses to where it helps Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb get open underneath.

If one doesn't believe what I wrote, name me another WR on the roster who has the intangibles Gallup has who can consistently win deep passes thrown his way that forces opposing Defenses to account for him, thus helping our other 2 WRs underneath in Cooper and Lamb (plus our TEs)?

Cowboys need to keep Gallup. Find a way.

*y'all 'think' yer fixing to cut a fat hog in the aZz by floating the #13 downstream while it's running high, but mark my words : "you will languish in great pangs of regrettable rueage before that season is over",,,er,,, over letting that player go:rolleyes:

I agree but if they don't intend to resign they can get a 2nd for him I think. Dallas isn't going to be contenders this season or next most likely. They need to stack draft picks especially since they never use FA to improve the team. Hard to see dallas being able to pay a wr #2/3 12-15 per is my point
