We are seeing reports from the fan in Dfw about the Camp he's having. I went and watched some of his reps. The kid is killin it guys. I know it's early, no exhibition games been played yet, but who else here thinks we need to keep a close eye on him? Could he press the cowboys to make a tough decision? If he can translate his camp reps to the games, we might have found a starter. That's right, I think he could start instead of Hooker. I also think this scheme will use a lot of 3 safety looks. He, the guy we got from Arizona, and Downs might be the combo we see. Hooker hasn't been very good. Thoughts on Wood?

I'll be watching this kid in our three preseason games. That's where he can do the most to punch his ticket to the 53-man roster.

Remember we signed him in his rookie year but then cut him.

Curious to see if he's a better fit for Parker than Zimmer/any growth.
Can't recall if he was making positive waves back in 2024 camp.
Exactly. When we cut him it was odd. He was looking great by all accounts. We are extremely blessed to have him here again. He's a ball hawk. Reminds me of a guy we had here way back in the early 80s. Dexter Clinkscale. Big tall, rangy, smart, athletic safety that ain't scared or intimidated. He will lay the lumber. No finesse. But has elite cover skills. Almost like a cb. He's smooth. Barring injury, he makes this roster on opening day and will have a defined role, maybe even start. Hooker has all the pressure on him right now.

Do not forget about AJ Clark.
I think he pushes Bell off the roster. Wood back on the PS.

Top players at Safety.
Downs, even though he will play the slot. But will in be in there over Hooker, if not at slot.
Thompson, Hooker, Locke

That is the top 4 spots. They will probably keep 5.
That leaves the last spot between Clark, Bell, Wood

If wood goes into the PS, someone will poach him. That cannot happen.

But they could poach Clark as well. Who plays ST's better?
We seen Clark is pretty good there.
Big hit on the Eagles player last year creating a huge TO. Too bad the offense came up a yard shoer on 4th and goal.

Don't put anyone on the PS. We need all those safeties in this scheme. We might need to go long at the position. Hooker might be cut if Coach cp wants to go with youth.

Possible he doesn’t make it, I haven’t heard anything about him this camp so far
Nope me either. Last year was awful when you saw him. He's just not a guy we wanna see starting. He's not good. He's a special teams guy or getting cut

been saying this.

Hooker IMO could be the odd man out. Downs, Thompson are going to start. You have Locke as well.

Woods could make the 53. Bell should be gone.

It’s all about Hookers contract. If his $$ is all guaranteed he is staying.

It is a deep safety room with considerable competition. Bell is the logical odd man out and early in his career here I liked him. Hooker is a pretty cerebral guy IMO and Parker likes that. Hooker will coach one day. To be honest I don't know any of the projected backups well enough to make a call on who is a better player in Parker's system.

Bell and even Hooker could be cut.
Clark probably pushes Bell off the roster. Hooker will not get cut.

Maybe hooker can be traded, but I doubt it. He is a proven sold player. Could Bell or Wood or Clark replace him that quick.
Those 3 are good depth players. But are any ready to be a full time starter.

I still think they can get a later round draft pick for Bell.

Bell is done IMO not making the 53

Who is this Julius Wood and how is it that I’ve never even heard of him?

I’d say I spend a fair amount of time around here lol, and I’ve never even heard the name mentioned once.
He was an UDFA a few years back or so. Made some noise in TC and a few PS games.
Was on the PS.
Was called up for a few games due to injuries. But did not play a lot, that I remember. Made a few big hits.
I think some teams signed him form the PS. Was released, and brought back to the PS late year.

I think he looks decent, maybe some potential. Otherwise was a TC favorite with some fans.
I think he is on the PS again this year.
