You know what, I made a nitpick thread, I should make a props thread to balance it out. This is for some of the little things I saw, not to say how beast Dez looked ( he did, that goes without saying!)

  • Romo - that pump fake then the long gain to Dez. That was not the design of the play, but that fake blitz then drifting to the flat is the same thing that JPP and the Commanders did last year to cause some horrible picks. One of my biggest gripes on Romo is actually the same gripe I have always had about Manning. Their game is predicated on them understanding the defense, and too often if they misread, the WR is in the wrong place or even if the defense did the wrong thing that just puts them in the right place, they will still throw the ball. They both rely a little too much on their presnap read and will sometimes not just react to what is actually going on in front of them. That pump and then go to Dez showed different.
  • Dunbar - his ability as a check down out of the flat is awesome and reminds me a little of Ray rice. Flacco has thrown for some nice yardage by checking down to Rice.
  • Free - I would love to see Free dominate. Reminds me of Gurode a little, who was benched for a year or two before he really found his game. He is stringing together a nice preseason.
  • Orton - great play by Beasley, but the fade to a receiver who is a candidate for the Lollypop Guild. Wow, what a nice throw. I love me some Romo, but that is the one throw I feel he has always struggled with.
  • Wilcox - he had good and bad, and he needs work. But props for doing exactly what Garrett said he needed to do - RUN. I like his range and his vigor, no tentative play from him. If he can tighten up where he should be, really hunker down in the film room, etc, then I like what we have here.

Romo was incredibly sharp in the game. His blitz reads were great. His timing was perfect. He's just mentally on another level at this point of his career.

Agreed. I think he just needs to relax a bit more when the line holds.

I won't trust Berny Mack until I see he and Frederick consistently protect the A gap on zone blitzes, sugars and stunts. I still think the defensive strategy will be to line up the power tackle on the left A gap and force a combo with Leary and Frederick and isolate Bernadeau.

Of course, we don't know if Leary will be any better at this, but at least he keeps his feet.
I thought the first team offensive line was very good... Smith, Free, Bern... all very good.

Is it just me or are we snapping the ball much sooner than before? The offense seems to be running much quicker.

Yes, the oline needs to earn his trust, hopefully they will consistently show they deserve that trust and that clock in Romos head will begin to slow down.

Romo will have no problem adjusting on the fly. I think it will be more the line trusting each other. Once they get to that comfort level, it'll be all about the "jellin".

Props: There's a lot but I'll single out one.

I liked how Randle was in blocking, his QB gets in trouble and rolls out to the right. So Randle swings out in front of his QB (crossing route) for an easy target to help his QB out.

Reminds me of some improvising done by some of our past and present vets. Example: Witten, Dez, Robinson
