In Singletary's defense, the only QB they have is Alex Smith.

But that doesn't excuse their defense getting lit up. But then again...perhaps the Chiefs are for real?

He choose Alex Smith to be his QB.

One of the most hyped up and overrated coaches out there.

Maybe he can moon his players this week. Guy is a tool of a HC.

Now at 0-4 with his guys playing so disciplined.

No kidding. Clements falls on the ball, they probably run out the clock and have the win.

Singletary's fire and attention to detail with his players must've not been on display when it came to teaching situational awareness within the game.

Priscoe ripped Singletary a new one two weeks ago. Woody's Girl posted a link to Priscoe's twitter feed during the game chat. Something along the lines of "Singletary is not head coaching material, in case no one heard me the first time."

San Francisco is just a mess. Reminds me of Tampa Bay last year firing their OC and DC in the first few weeks of the season.

I'm not sure that the talent isn't there but I'm pretty confident a different coach could be doing much better things with it.

Even with Alex Smith, they've got weapons on offense at the WR, TE, and RB positions that should be translating to wins.

Sad really.

Don't think he has enough experience overall to be a good coach. He looks the part but he doesn't have the skills. He has never even been a defensive coordinator either, just a position coach.

Just a position coach.

Like Andy Reid. Like John Harbaugh. Except unlike those guys, he's got Alex Smith at QB. No coach in the world could overcome that.

He's the equivalent of a bench coach in baseball. A great motivator but not a great X's and O's guy. At some point in a game you need to actually have a plan for what you're doing.

Wade may not inspire people but his X's and O's are among the tops in the league.

If you could merge the two you'd have one heck of a coach.

The basis of all problems in San Francisco is their lack of a quarterback.

Which i've been saying since the day they drafted him yet there are a few of my 49er friends who still try and sell me a broken bill of goods that Alex isn't the problem.

i am in 49'er country. There isn't a single person I've ever spoken with who likes Smith. Not one.

Yep. When I mention that he looked really good his year under Turner, 9er fans look at me like I'm nuts.

What's more fun is the way they turned on Singletary. That said, 9er fans still are at least as optimistic as Cowboy fans, and they're sitting at 0-4.

Thing is SF came into this season with fairly high expectation of winning a weak division now that Warner is out of Arz. and thus far Singletary has yet to get a win.

What you miss is that he's the sort of motivator who is rare. There are tons of great X and O guys. They often fail as coaches. You do however have to surround a motivator with good X and O coordinators. They have that at D in Manusky. They didn't have that at OC with Raye. Singletary really didn't get the sort of staff that you need to put around a guy with limited experience.

You don't go 0-4 and have the problem only be your OC. Singletary is winless playing in the biggest joke of a division that I can remember in the last 10 years. He had no coaching experience to begin with, and he's teetering on the brink of losing his team by week five. He was a great player, but he's not a quality NFL HC.

I agree and the motivational talk after a while goes in one ear and out the other. If that is what your coaching ability is made of is rah rah speeches then you’re in trouble. You dealing with high priced players and those speeches especially when things are going bad is not going to turn things around.

Singletary has a problem with calling players out to the media you’re not going to build up a player that way. These players catch enough heat in the media and with fans last thing they need is having their coach throw them under the bus and right now I don’t see where Singletary is manning up and putting the blame on himself after all he is the head coach where the buck is suppose to stop not be passed on to others.

The niners are a victim of undeserved hype this year. They scored like 8 or 9 defensive touchdowns last year, which caused them to either be close or win some games they shouldn't have. Because of that, they became a sexy pick to take the next step this year, but if you had looked deeper you'd realize without those defensive scores they're a 5 or 6 win team at best.

They're just not that good.
