I also thought he looked good. I can't pretend to know if he busted any assignments or made any mental errors, but he did seem to look good physically.

I agree. He looked very good. I also thought Flozell looked dominant out there. I didn't see much out of the guards, but the starting right tackle did a decent job. Did Fabini or Columbo wind up starting?

This is an interesting take on Gurode.

One of the locker room reports indicated that the OL made lot of mistakes because the Saints DL guys were moving around.

I'd be interested to see how the staff evaluates his performance - those mistakes may be attributable to guys not knowing assignment, poor line calls/adjustments, or both.

I'm right there with you .. #52 was our biggest weakness last year. I regularly went on my #52 sucks rants but everyone else focused more on the tackles. I kept saying that our tackles looked so bad because Bledsoe was pushed to the left and right side of the pocket constantly due to pressure up the middle which led to sacks from the outside credited to the tackles instead of the real cause .. #52.

I noticed all last season how at times #52 would be standing there blocking no one and guys would be running around him, in some cases on both sides, like he had his eyes closed.

He was supposed to be better against 3-4 defenses and AJ better against 4-3's.
The Saints ran a 4-3 last night so this is very encouraging.

I missed what happened with Flo after the injury timeout. I had heard that he was kicked in the calf.. but I don't think we saw him come back into the game after that? Also did Petitti or Columbo come into the game last night?

very encouraging indeed. it appears he's getting over the mental mistakes that have held him back. It's also nice to have AJ as depth at the position.

I am so happy that Parcells never gave up on him. I was so geeked when Dallas selected him with the #38 overall pick in 2002 (behind Roy Williams).

However, many posters wanted Gurode out of here two years ago and even last year.

I have said many times that we need to be patient with offensive linemen. Sometimes they take several years to blossom. For Mark Teunei, it took eight years. Five years for Gogan and Newton.

This is why I am reluctant for Dallas to possibly cut Peterman. I would hate to see Dallas give up on him, only to see him flourish with another team. We don't need anymore Ron Stones.

Regardless, I have never given up on Gurode. I also have not given up on Peterman either.

Yeah that's the thing in the Salary Cap era, That's the big complaint from team officials you don't have the luxury to wait like you use to. 3 years you have to do something. Peterman better do something or he's gone next year

Glad to see I'm not alone. I've been saying since last week's game that Gurode is our best OL-man. He's got a physical style that knowone else on the O-line has. I love watching him go one-on-one with the opposing DT/NT during pass blocks. You'll see him out in front hand-fighting the defender at the LOS, and not behind the LOS during passes. It's rare to see a defender get any push on Gurode during passes, which allows Drew/Romo a nice pocket to step up into.

Gurode plays in a way that looks good on an obvious level -- when he locks up his guy it is over -- he's strong and powerful and pretty agile.

What still concerns me is the more subtle stuff. When your LG comes out and says the run blocking was bad because the Saints guys were moving around you have to wonder how much of that is on the Center and poor recognition and line calls.
