Micah says Cowboys are costing themselves more money

Jerry wants the highest paid Offensive & Defensive players in the league on the same team at the same time. It's a marketing thing so I don't really think they care if they are supposedly losing more money the longer they wait. Imagine all the merch fans will buy advertising it, all the witty little slogans etc.
 
Good for Parsons to tell the Cowboys how it is. I don't care what you all think of him. But he is right. Jerry is costing this team money by waiting.

If I was him I would hold out. It would make good business sense.

You're most likely right about this. But people will think you're implying that they are broke. Which couldn't be further from the truth. It's simply asset management.
 
Dallas leadership doesn't care. He's said so. It is wasteful and stupid but Jerry could care less. We're talking about it and he likes that more than making a smart deal early.

yes it is lol, it all comes out of the cap, either current year or future years.
The Cleveland browns spent $345m.........that is deceptive, most of that will be paid out of future years caps.

Not at all....The Browns spent $345m in payroll to the roster. Its cash that they gave to the players in 2024.

Deshaun Watson is $35m against the cap for 2025, but the Browns are paying him $46M in cash.

Now you're sort of right in that the league send out league revenue sharing checks each offseason that typically covers the entirety of that years cap number, but that isnt usable by the team year round at any time....typically those checks or ACH however they are deposited hit mid to late summer, meaning that teams typically have to dive into their own funds or owner funds at the time. Not only that but the owners are paying more than just the current years salary when the sign a player. The entirety of the guaranteed money in a contract goes into an escrow account at the time of signing. So if player X signs a 5 year $200M deal with $140M fully guaranteed the owner is writing a check for $140M even if it doesnt make it to the player right away.
 
Trade him to Cleveland for 2 first rounders next year, then we'll have 3 first rounders next year and salary cap. I love Micah, but 3 first rounds and extra cap space is juicy, plus we are loaded at DE this year. We can use one of our three 1st next year on another DE if we need to.

you need to go to cap school lol.
(let me add, I am no expert on the cap and it is complicated.you can ask google some questions and
find out more about cap yourself. It is also a little common sense, the whole idea is to limit how much teams can spend on PLAYERS each season. If they could use other funds, there would be no limit lol)

If it worked like your saying, there would be no cap , and a guy like jerry could just outspend everybody else, and have a team loaded with top players.
The only thing that stops that is the cap system.
Teams have found loop holes , and ways of pushing $ into the future, but there is a limit to that.


No owner is paying out of pocket or from other sources.
They dont have to wait till july when they get certain funds either.

Cleveland already has a high paid, tremendous pass rusher. Why would they consider trading anything for another? Micah will want, and get, a bigger contract than Garrett.

Its simply 100% untrue what you're saying. You can see by year exactly what teams are spending in cash. Its all public record and very accessible.....

From the links we can see that the Minnesota Vikings have at total cap limit of $296,902,277, yet they've spent $355,514,344 in total cash.

Joe Burrow signed an extension in 2023. That year he was a $19M cap hit, yet he received $45M in cash that year...on top of that the Bengals had to write a check for his $146M in guaranteed money.

The entire way that teams push cap hits into the future is by paying out bonuses to players now....basically the more cash you're willing to pay a player today the more cap hit the system lets teams push down the road.

The part of what you're saying that is accurate is that the league does have profit sharing which is largely (if not fully) where they get the cap numbers each year from. The issue is that these don't get distributed to teams until mid to late summer, there is no specific date....or at least that is made public. So early offseason extensions and free agent activities absolutely comes out of either team funds or the owners pocket. Teams raising more cash to support their franchises has been a huge topic the last few years, and part of the reason why we are seeing so many teams being sold. The amount of cash required to run an NFL franchise is no joke.
