Knowing how close we are he could of reverted back to his old self and risked a lot in the process. Instead he intelligently signs Zach to a great deal and will rely on the draft for the rest.

Shows he has learned a lot and he is the best owner in football.

Go Boys!

with the raiders signing walker they will not draft mcfadden. so if you're not on the mcfadden to Dallas bandwagon don't be so proud of jerry just yet. this move just made the thought of us trading with oakland to get mcfadden that much more realistic.

I agree-the old Jerry would probably have thrown out $25m guaranteed on Asante "System Guy" Samuel, traded the farm for a stud, but would have made it substraction by addition, etc, etc.

BTW-the Giants are following this approach we are for the second straight year, and look how successful they are.

Overall-I'm really happy by the way the Jones' are running things this offseason so far. Just being patient, and taking what is given to them.

I am not on the dmac bandwagon.

I am on the bandwagon to get 2 CB in the first round and a RB/WR in later rounds.

If we got McFadden I'd be really happy...he's the best player in the draft and would add a dimension to the offense that we just dont have now...we'd have the best pair of RB's in the league, easily

I wouldnt sell the farm to move up and get him, but if he falls to the 6-7 range and we dont have to give up any significant starters from our team, I'm all for it and think it'd be a great move...its very possible we could move up to the 6-7-8 range and give up nothing more than the two firsts+a third perhaps

if you trade both first rounders to get him, who exactly is going to play corner? do you really want to have ball in on 60% of the snaps? do you want roy trying to cover wideouts?

Walker or no, they gave Russell $30m guaranteed last year, so they weren't on the McF train to begin with.(I believe the Jets will likely get him in the draft)

Yeah-what that poster said makes no sense.

unless the plan is to let go of Newman soon, I dont see where drafting 2 CB's in the first rd makes alot of sense...and letting go of Newman would be foolish anyway

CB's, especially nickel and developmental CB's can be had in other areas of the draft...

Will you still be proud when we lose in the first round of the playoffs again? you say we are close.close to what? we have not won a playoff game in 10 years. Jerry just blew a chance to put this team over the top. the draft alone wont do it,but go ahead and fool yourself if you want too.

Dude-we need DEPTH at this position. Sure-finding backups at corner is easier said than done, but nonetheless, Newman/Henry are over 30 and had their share of injuries last year. The LAST thing we need is some Jacques Reeves on this team.

can I not draft a CB in the 2nd or 4th rd? Especially when so many consider the CB position of this draft pretty deep

is there some rule that says you can only count on 1st rd picks making any contribution?

as for Ball, I am not counting on him but they apprently do like the kid...its certainly not beyond the realm of possibility that he plays a role next yr

In this new age of the NFL with FA and that darn salary cap, NOONE is close, no matter how good you are. Heck-assuming the Eagles end up trading Lito, Samuel is hardly an upgrade at corner over him.

you dont spend two first rd picks on the same position because you need "depth" on the team...Newman is a franchise CB, he's gonna be here and play at a high level for years to come...Henry might be in his last yr here or certainly his last ry as a starting CB, but you still dont HAVE to draft a CB in round one...

Corner IS our biggest need-we don't exactly have to draft a stud, but nonetheless the best one on the board when it's our turn at #22, we need to grab the heck out of it.

would you rather be the raiders and fork over millions on bums? call me carzy, but i would rather keep the 13 pro bowlers. you don't blow up a team that won 13 games.

How will overspending for marginal players put us "over the top"?

There was one FA that I felt would put us over the top, but we really had no chance....Randy Moss.

Right now, we have the most talented roster in the NFC. We're still very, very young.
