Those are all observations of interest.
My passion for the team, is kinda muted right now with Tyrone's injury.:(
Sorry.

Yeah it is kind of numbing in a way. More like SMH, we as fans knew this, but the FO refusing to address the situation is typical. It has been a problem for years now, and they still have not properly addressed it.

Yes, the Injury is bad news, but their inability to take proactive action on this issue is more depressing to me.
It just shows that we don't have quality leadership, and with the NFL being so competitive, that's a pretty bad disadvantage.

Yeah I kind of cringed when Jerry said that. Especially after Tyron goes down and knowing how the OL struggles without him out there.

The other thing was when they were talking about all the fans there that came out. As SAS the fans are why he is a hater, as he always said that. Then Jerry, put out his hand and rubbed his fingers together basically saying .... they are here spending money ..... as they were talking about how they are valued at $8 million.

Another cringe worthy moment.
Yup. Winning is second. Winning the Forbes bowl is the real ticket.

Grier, Turpin and the OL, I guess. I'm curious about who the Seasquawks play. If they play starters on D, it'll tell us a lot about our OL, Grier and Turpin.

Josh Ball, Tyler Smith and Farniok.
Bell, Mukuamu and Coyle.
KJ, Wright and Bland.

OL for obvious reasons. Secondary players because theres a surplus, and also JLewis may not be able to go Week 1 so Bland or KJ have to show something.
Tyler S not playing

We are not promoting a winning culture here in Dallas.
It's a problem.

We allow our guys to think they have won something before they actually win it and they are buying in to it.

We have the same issue with sitting guys in the last game of the season if our playoff spot is locked up. I believe that has costed us playoff games in the past because our guys come out flat.

The way you're going to change the culture is you're going to have to get a few star players that care about winning more than being a celeb. It's going to take them changing things, because the organization itself will 100% allow you to take the easy road for everything.

Yep, Jerry told the entire fan base and the NFL he's getting money and that's what matters most to him.

2cents: He's winning as long as ppl show up with their money. He doesn't care about winning football games like those fans do.
Once people realize that they don't get angry when we lose.

First, no injuries.

Second, I want to see who along the OL stands out and getting a bit more color around the secondary. There's a few roster spots there that aren't completely locked in so will be interesting to see how rotations look.

Lastly, give Grier and Rush a half each. I feel like Grier has the edge, but I want them to have ample opportunity. I don't need to see Dinucci.

Josh Ball to die on the field and land on McGovern and take him out too. Maybe then we sign someone :D

I kid, I kid...

All eyes will be on what they do on the left side of the OL. If anything.
Do you think they will play Waletzko and Ball at LT or move Tyler over there and play McGovern at LG.

Or Will they choose to do nothing then address the situation after roster cut downs.

What else are you looking for.
I know this front page is full of negativity now (and rightfully so), so just trying to get a different topic going. Seems there are 25 threads about Tyron and the FO's lack of action and knowledge.

I want to see Grier take the back up QB job, and see how they use Turpin on offense.
Also see if Wright still screws up or not, and how some other defensive depth players play.

The battle for 3rd string RB up for grabs also between Dowdle and Davis. Which WR steps up to claim the 6th spot, or 5th and 6th spots.

- Grier has to start ..and impress big time to overtake Rush as the backup, imo.
I'm for Grier as the backup too, as he has more velocity and his game seems quicker than Rush, and it's not like he's a rookie.
I doubt he's eligible for PS, ditto with Rush on the PS. .
I'd like to see Grier start and play bulk of first half, …Rush maybe one or two series, and Nooch finishes up the remaining time.

- I don't expect Matt Wally to play at all.
- Developing, inexperienced Josh Ball at least a half … Farniok, and TE Penderhot, a bulk of game (rumor is McGovern starting C tonight)

- yes, Malik Davis vs Rico at RB battle

- I really want to see Turpin as a WR,...as well as Simi and Houston.. with Wil Grier !
TE Ferguson plays with 1st team and then he’s out. Don’t be surprised if not at all.

- I'd let the more very fringe players and PS candidates (Vashar, Brandon Smith,) work with Nooch...
- Expect LBs Harper, Storey, Gifford and Malik Jefferson to play a lot from start to end.

- DL wise, I'm sitting the obvious Gallimore, Osa, and Hill .
Bohanna is playing at least a quarter ..no more than a half. But Ridgeway plays entire game as He should be headed for PS if not claimed, imo.

- DE's i'm giving Sam and Basham at least half ..i don't think Bash will make the team vs numbers game, but not out of question.
Taftua (sp) gets bulk at DE, before aimed at the PS.

- When Turpin sits whose the Backup punt returner ? .. Dennis Houston ?

Go watch Jerry speaking to Stephen A.

He already thinks the playoffs are guaranteed. And said so on National TV.

This is why I constantly say. It doesnt matter who is under center, or on this team. They will never go anywhere because they dont feel they need to win. They already have.

Honestly, I think this was just Jerry just trying to lift Tyron's spirit. Martin mentioned a tough blow coz he was looking forward to having a great season. He and Stephen are not stupid. I'm starting to think a Wynn probably makes to most sense. The potential is similar the when we signed Colombo 2005.

20. ISAIAH WYNN, NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS
The problem isn’t what Wynn does when he's on the field — it's actually getting on the field. He's played in only 18 regular-season matchups since being selected in Round 1 of the 2018 NFL Draft. Still, his performance in that small stretch is too good to ignore. Wynn has posted career run- and pass-blocking grades just above 77.0, something only six other offensive tackles have accomplished.

Hate to say it but most of the guys playing the majority of the game tonight will either not be on this roster in Sept or they will primarily be contributing on STs. Pre-season games- especially the last one of the year- rarely show us a lot about what this team is going to be.

The other thing to remember is this- even the guys who may look good tonight are playing against 3rd and 4th stringers or guys who won’t ever play a down of NFL football. So I usually remind myself that these ps games rarely show us much of real consequence.

Yes, you have summed up the issue fairly well.
Jerry also will not hire a hard nosed coach and get out of his way.

Sometimes looking back at a ps game, it can remind you of how little it revealed. In the final ps game in 2021, (a 34-14 loss to the jags) these were the “stars” of the game for Dallas:
  • Leading passer- Garrett Gilbert- 9/16/87 yds, 1 TD
  • Leading rushers- Brendan Knox, Jaquan Hardy, and Reggie Davis who had a combined 21 carries for 76 yds.
  • Leading receivers- Nick Eubanks, Brendan Knox and Simi Fehoko who each had 3 receptions. Fehoko made the team but did not play a meaningful down last yr. He will this year.
  • Leading tacklers-Deantre Burton and Luke Gifford who had a combined 11 tackles.
  • Reggie Davis and Johnnie Dixon handled all kickoff and punt returns.
My point here is almost all the guys last year who were the major “contributors” in the final ps game either didn’t make the team or had very minor roles.
