Wilbon is from Chicago and is a Bears fan....and I live in DC. And lets just say that *** whooping we gave the Bears 2 years ago has still left a bad taste in his mouth.

Remember the Bears were coming off a Super Bowl season....it was Sunday Night football.....in there house....and we pretty much eneded there season that night. NOBODY saw that coming...and I will admit neither did I. But we absolutley crushed them

in all honesty what have we upgraded in since last year and we finished 9-7? actually got worse talent wise. rookie class is a joke. so a 7-9 prediction is believable.

With parity in the League, any team can compete and make a run as long as they can run the ball, defend well, limit their mistakes (penalties and turnovers) and are capable of making you pay via a deep threat. My point is, just because we hate the 'Skins doesn't mean we should rule out the fact that it is possible for them to be good this season (9-7 or 10-6). The 'Skins were in the playoff hunt last season and it isn't farfetched to see them in the hunt again.

You're right though CL, a lot will have to go right for them to accomplish that feat. But, who would've thought the Cardinals would've been minutes away from being Super Bowl champs for the '08 season before it started?

Oh, I definitely think it's possible for them to be good. I'm one of the few who would love to have Haynesworth... I do think he'll make them better. I even think Campbell gets a bit of a bum rap.

And in today's NFL, almost any team can get hot early, have some luck with injuries and the schedule, and go on a run.

It's just that these predictions should be playing the odds. And odds are that the Giants and Eagles will probably be better than the Skins. We should be, too.

PTI is entertaining to watch some times, but neither of those clowns knows jack about any sport. It is amazing to think they have been sports writers for as long as they have, while being as clueless as they are.

With those standings, I think it's clear that Wilbon didn't know who to pick, so he just placed all the teams within three games of each other and called it a day. He's an older journalist. He's reached "mailing it in" stage, with random periods of fire when he gets a bee in his bonnet over some societal issue.

Why do people get so bent out of shape over stuff like this? Waste of energy.

Fair enough CL.

And the Chicago mafia had the referees in their hip pocket. Not really, but I've never seen such bad calls and one-sided officiating. Not even when the refs were handing Pittsturd and the Cheats superbowls.

I don't think the 7-9 prediction is all that outlandish, honestly, but the Washington pick at 10-6 is. Ditto for the Giants at 8-8.

Of course they're outlandish. Only haters with an agenda and people with little knowledge of the game are predicting anything less than 10 wins for the Cowboys in 2009.

Now I'm surely not saying it CAN'T happen. Anything can happen. We could lose Romo and Ware in week one and just like that, we're a .500 team.

But when you make these predictions you're supposed to properly evaluate the team. It's talent, coaching and overall direction it's headed.

We didn't have much luck with injuries in 2008 and still needed to lose our last 2 games to finish 9-7.

Is it safe to assume we'll have fewer injuries in 2009 than 2008?

Why would anyone look at this team and say it's less talented or capable than the 2007 team that won 13 games?

This is simple logic to me. 2+2+2 = 6

When I read a 9-7 or worse 2009 prediction for the Cowboys I feel like someone's trying to make the argument that 2+2+2 =3!

I am having trouble following your logic.

We have argueably a more talented team then the one that went 13-3 two years ago. So anyone saying 7-9 is clearly a TOTAL MORON.

I'm guilty of getting bent out of shape every time Chris Berman picks the Eagles to go to the SB-lol

I don't think Wilbon was being a "homer" at all. As others have pointed out he is a Bears fan who works in Washington.

To your statement, I don't believe the 'Skins are a Super Bowl contender by any means but I also don't see them as a terrible squad either. They have a top 5 defense, a strong running game, a Pro Bowl TE, a deep threat at WR and a QB who doesn't make mistakes. That is a recipe for a team that can stay in games with nearly anyone. My disdain for them won't allow me to openly admit that to an over-the-top 'Skins homer in my native Washington, DC but as a knowledgeable football fan I can admit a rivals strengths.

.
Jason Campbell just doesn't look like he makes mistakes because he doesn't have any good plays to compare it too. The skins might not win 6 this year.
