... yes it was a win. Yes the defense played great last night. D-line, LB'ers and secondary. They shut down OBJ, Shepherd and Barkley as a RB BUT remember the NY Giant O-line (even with the big $ on Solder) and the Hernandez draft pick is below average. They aren't very good, and neither is the Carolina O-line. And it's ELI, years removed from the discussion of whether he is elite or not. I keep thanking Giant management for NOT drafting a QB high.

Does this D have potential? Yes big. If we can keep Gregory sober and healthy and if Irving can stay off twitter and calling attention to himself. Doomsday potential? No but potential to be a 90's type D, yes. I want to see what they do against a top O-line and QB. In other words what do they do against the Eagles. We don't exactly know what we have yet but there seems to be 30 teams who are still figuring it out. There are the same number of 0-2 teams as there are 2-0. So far the majority sit at 1-1. And who looks like the best team in the NFL? The Chiefs? The Yucaneers? You kidding me!

Just sayin, tap the breaks on the D a bit. Be excited for potential not yet attained at this point. The potential is there. It's gonna have to be if we score 20 points or fewer on average.

What do you guys thing of the mind set switch, relying on defense over offense because that looks like reality this year.

Biggest red flag from game 1 for me was the LB corps. For the Cowboys to have any chance this season, they don't have to be dominant but they at least have to be reliably solid. They looked a mess in game 1, but they certainly looked solid last night.

The speed with which they consistently closed on the ball was impressive.

Pump the brakes??? Nothing gets the adrenaline flowing like attempting to stop that emotional automobile while going downhill and realizing the brakes don't work, just buckle up and enjoy the ride. If you're not handling my auto insurance don't worry about my driving:laugh:

I learned a long time ago to never pump the brakes on good times.
We dont know how many more times we will get to ride the ride so what sense does it make letting the fear of a low mess with the thrill of a high?

Its just football.

This was, like I said Friday, a must win, can't afford to fall behind in the division. Thank goodness for the Eagles and Commanders losses. Nobody in the division looks to have it locked up at this point. I expect Dallas' offense to get better, the others are probably going to stay the same, unless Wentz comes back and returns to his form from last year, the Eagles might then push ahead as the strongest team in the division. Then again Wentz has to prove the knee injury hasn't affected his running, which was a pretty good part of his success last year.

But have to keep in mind, this Giants team isn't very good, won't be able to rush other quarterbacks like they did Eli; other o-lines are better. Dallas' having to kick red zone field goals instead of being able to punch it in for a touchdown is a concern. And Zeke STILL had only 17 carries, the big runs he had were nearly all on him, the line is NOT blocking well, Williams, Collins and Looney are average at best.

At this point if I had to hazard a guess as to the SB teams, it'd be Jacksonville and the Rams, Cowboys aren't, at this time, at their level. But it's only game 2, this team has plenty of time to gel, and of course an injury to Gurley or Bortles could really hurt those possible SB teams.

Going to enjoy this win for a couple of days..

Best play of the night for me was Smith's hit on Eli, perfect tackle and Eli will certainly think twice before running like that again...

I'm taken the Chiefs and Yucaneers in the SB. Mahomes versus red beard. Poor Jameiss will probably think twice about gabbin a femme taxi driver. That was Uber dumb:laugh:

I can see those teams in the SB. But Andy Reid has proven time and again, he's not a big game/playoff game coach, don't see why that wouldn't continue, especially with a very green quarterback. And the Bucs aren't that good imho, the Saints' defense is not very good, discounts the Bucs' 40 pts for that reason. Never felt that Winston is a championship-caliber quarterback, either.

I'm sure things will shift during the season...
