Punt returner?

No way in heck is Newman returning punts. Two straight years of injuries and he's 31. I'm still holding out hope they trade a 6th next year for Roscoe Parrish.

WR:
Williams
Austin
Crayton
Hurd
Parrish
Ogletree

Stanback is out. He was Ireland's pet cat, he was given chances and has done nothing. Time to move on.

last I heard the coaching staff felt very comfortable with the depth that we had at the CB position, putting them at ease to use Newman as our PR on a more frequent basis. Every return? That I am not certain of.

Is this the same coaching staff that felt comfortable with our backup QB's last year? If so, we may be in trouble.

I like Smith back there but I would do backflips if we got Roscoe Parrish. Him and Felix on the field would be disgusting. But I doubt it happens because they probably want to see what they have in Ogletree and Johnson..

Just throwing this out there..would you guys trust Stanback back there?

I'd out Newman back there in situational punts, like if they are really backed up and Newman is waiting on the 50 yard line..

Wrong....Stanback gets this TC to prove he's worth keeping around.

Why are so many ready to cut a guy before camp?

For the same reason we cut James Marten (3rd round pick) after one year. Stanback has shown nothing except the ability to get hurt for him to be given a roster slot. I would love for him to prove me wrong, but I don't see it. He was hurt in college, he's been hurt in the NFL, I don't see him making it through TC.

Not opposed to trying it, but I wouldn't trust him. IIRC, he's already had two fumbles in limited occasion as a returner.

D Lo.

He says they have already talked to him about that job.

In those few examples at least, he seems to catch the ball and immediately takes it upfield... I don't see a lot of dancing around...

This is good...

The choice is obvious...

Buehler.

Naw, he just had a concussion... once you get one, you're more susceptible to future concussions...

Just ask Troy...

In the interview he did with DC, he said that his special teams coach taught him to go vertical and not horizontal. I hate when guys like Reggie Bush just dance around and make people miss, yet they only gain like 5 yards instead of 20 if they just went straight!.

How do you know he's shown nothing?

Apparently, he's shown something or else we probably would have cut him.

If he doesn't make it through TC, then fine.....but he'll get a chance. What good can be gained from not giving him a chance?

I had my fill of dancing punt returners watching PacMan last year...

From the footage, he didn't look like he was great at it, but he's good enough. Certainly better than Crayton.
