Dak got his second contract after he played a few games and basically severed one of his leg bones. Plus the constant refrain that I read from his legions (not sure if you argued this) that QB and other contracts naturally go up.
The refrain said for any “franchise” QB, the contract will always top the prior highest contract. That this was the way. This was how the market works. We find out less than 1 year after Dak gets his new contract, that franchise QB’s sometimes do not automatically top the previous high (13% less per year average). I would also argue that after two straight NFCCG appearances and a SB appearance, Purdy’s achievements top anything Dak has ever accomplished in the regular season. He’s also much younger and healthier. Not that I would like the thought of committing to Brock Purdy long term if I was a 49ers’ fan.
