Put the blame where it should be: The Secondary!

As an old pro corner, NFL-CFL, I can truthfully say that these guys are not Quick enough to cover WR's. They aren't getting the jump on thrown balls. I'm watching Newman and his reaction time is good sometimes, but breaks to the inside, especially on "Arrow" or "Seam" patterns is slow. Scandrick looked like he was chasing Ducks. I'd be shocked to see what our CB's "Real" 40 time was. Not the "liar" times that Wade & Jerry put out..but the real 40 times.
The safties play too much run and get beat constantly on patterns they are supposed to be helping the Corners on..especially on Corner Routes. Demarcus Ware covering slot backs or Tight Ends??? Pullllleeesss! When you score 31 points, you should win..What did Manning go..6 for 7 on the last drive? All 7-10 yard throws. Anybody chucking the receivers at the Line? Or Bumping anyone off a route? Not a chance! Roy Williams disgraced this team for 5 years...we got a new bunch of wannabe's that tackle like 8th graders and couldn't cover Stevie Wonder.

I'm sorry, but I just can't agree.

I put the blame on #9. Three turnovers... and one for special teams.

I don't understand why people are so upset against a defense that not only plays every regular series - they also play 4 extra series(usually with shorter fields) because the offense couldn't score. They don't even really get time to breathe.

Blame the scheme(bumping the corners) on Phillips. Phillips calls the plays, not the players. That entire last drive we played not to lose, and still lost. I'll never understand why defenses go flimsy on the last drive of a game.

Remember, all but Newman are inexperienced still. I think Newman was trying to hard after his poor effort in week 1.

Very true - but its up for Wade and staff to change what they assign theplaers to do.

And finally to the REAL PROBLEM of no attitude or sense of aggression on D. No committment to pressure the QB and backs at any cost. Where is the creativity and aggressive blitzes we were promised? If you want to cause turnovers, you have to pressure and rattle the QB.

Maybe because they have given up over 800 yards over two games with no sacks or turnovers?

No, Romo didn't help them with the turnovers, but the offense still managed to put up 31 points despite giving away the ball 4 times. The defense didn't do their part either.

I think this is a valid point, but in all honesty Scandrick was fooled really bad just once. His tackling was poor but I still like his aggressiveness. Newman had a bad game but he's not a bad corner.

I think our problems are at safety. Ever since Woodson left we haven't been the same. They are almost non-existent. I think the number of sacks we had last year compared to the lack of interceptions magnifies the problem.

With 31 points that should be enough points, even with turnovers, to beat teams in the NFL our Defense was garbage last nite, and our secondary stunk up the place....it's gonna be a long season with our defensive backs...looonngggg season.

Maybe the safeties were playing the run, because we got utterly gashed in that phase of the game against the BUCS?

There was plenty of blame to go around on defense. By the way did you happen to notice a lack of pressure? Turns an average secondary woeful in a hurry.

But then again please be fair and look what the defense gave up. 26 points, and if you look at the TD after the second pick, that one should've been a pick 6 too, it's 19 points. And that seems pretty ok to me. Not great, but ok against a still very good team. They stoped the Giants 5 times in the red zone. Ok, they collapsed in the last drive. No excuse there, but there is a reason the they had to call a timeout with the clock stopped. And that has something to do with being on the field too long.

It was ugly, but zero sacks is ugly, too.

Is it a crime to doulble 2 WRs?

Give Felix Jones the ball more than 7 bloody times, and you win.

...dude...it ain't what they were still able to put up...it IS what they handed the Giants on a plate...Romo particularly...keep glossing over this guy if you like but until he abandons the gunslinger mode he ain't going sniff a Lombardi Trophy...the NFC East defenses are too good for that garbage...it belongs in the NFC North...he makes too many stupid mistakes and this is the third year running...so call it Tony Turnover and the Clueless Cornerbacks...nuff said!

Very true. But they still gave up over 400 yards-- that's a lot gashing.

We spotted Giants 24 points on turnovers. Secondary was crap, but not the reason we lost the game.

It was a horrible coaching job this past week. Coaches focused too much on stopping the run. Everyone underestimated the Jint's WR corp. TNew, Jenkins, and Scandrick took them too lightly.

Theres only one person with no blame for yesterday and thats Beuler. I'm guessing you could also lob Folk in there. Other than those two theres plenty of blame to go around.

I was thinking about the same thing today. We never seem to jump any routes. Why? Don't we have game film of our opponents? Quarterbacks have absolutely no fear of throwing on our secondary. We never make a play on the ball. We may as replace our safetys with more pass rushers for all that they do in pass coverage. 8 INTs in the last 20 games. Thats just ridiculous.

This is exactly the type of defense Jimmy Johnson despised. He wanted playmakers at every defensive position and we have two out of eleven. Ware and Ratliff.

A corner needs to be cocky, pissed off, and a little dirty. I used to start a game off by cold cocking the WR I was on.. I mean he was lokking out his ear hole after the first Lick. He spent the rest of the game looking for my ***. I don't see that "Meaness" from our secondary. Roy was a big hitter..and much as I decry his coverage, he didn't let cocky Z's run Arrow patterns on him. Jack Tatum comes to mind.
CB's spend the first 12 yds of a play backing out of the formation..waitingfor the WR to break..When your backing out..Your shoulders are square..you can break in or out. Watching Newman, I've noticed he's shuffling more with his shoulders either in or out. He's already committed. Last night he stumbled trying to close on the TD..but he was already turned inside. I was guilty myself of shuffling..usually when I was tired. Technique is somethng seasoned corners like Newman shouldn't be coached on..and I'm no guru or expert by a long margin. Just a guy who made the same mistakes. I seriously think whoever is coaching the Secondary is not doing much coaching.

NOOOO WAAYYYYY.

No pass rush, a corner and safety cant cover forever. We miss ellis, because they are shooting 3 people at ware, and spencer isnt making it happen. That and romo turned the ball over with no pressure.
