I wonder if NE felt this way when Cassell took over for Brady a few years back, with no WRs? It is 100% scheme, imo.

I wouldn't say 100%, but I've thought for years that the design of Garrett's offense stunts the talent at his disposal.

I love Goff Blue but I'm now leaning toward Elliott in the first and a QB in the second. I think an explosive, premiere running back completely opens up the offense again next year.

My best offseason would be

Ezekiel Elliott - draft
Back up QB - draft
Ashlon Jeffrey - WR - Free Agent
Eric Berry - S - Free Agent

Everything else is house money.

NE still had WR's, they weren't your household big contract stars. But they had a WR corps of very good players and TE's.

I'm the exact same way. I go back and forth and after seeing how good he is in all three phases Elliott's currently got me. But Goff was really impressive and I think he's going to surpass Lynch who they say is more of a work in progress. I don't see Goff getting by the Browns or the Chargers.

I would take that in a hearteat. But I want that #4 pick vs #8 so we need to play our 2nd stringers tomorrow or else Zeke may find his name called by someone else and we will be yet again in our usual 1st round draft purgatory. . lol

The last I seen on CBS sports site, Elliot is ranked the 16th best player over all.
But bowl games, and the combine will change all of this.
Which is why I say for now, a bit of a trade down, and we can land Elliot, pick up another 2nd round, or a 3rd and a 4th. Need to look at trade value chart, and depends if we pick 4th or 8th.
Then again, Elliot could move up from 16th to 8th too.

I hate when a team trades down to target a player. There are 31 other teams that can jump in and get that player. If you really like a player don't get cute. Frederick is a example.
