QAF versus RAF Interception stats

Of course no one wants their QB to throw picks. That's a no brainer. However, a pick is not always the quarterback's fault. For example, we've all seen a quarterback throw a good pass right into the receiver's hands, only to have the receiver tip it, causing the pick. Or the receiver might run the wrong route. Cases like that could be entered into the stats as RAF-interceptions, meaning "receiver at fault." By contrast, if the quarterback simply screwed up, causing the pick, then that goes into the stat as a QAF-interception (quarterback at fault). It would be interesting to see how many QAF picks Dak has compared to RAF ones, but those stats don't exist.

Do you guys think that a QAF versus RAF method of keeping interception stats could work in the NFL? And be useful?

I think it would be a good thing* to consider when debating the subject

I would say there were at least a couple QUEEFS that Dak was responsible for.

How would an outsider know whether the receiver ran the wrong route?

Wouldn't it just be easier to emphatically state that every single one of Dak’s INTs were someone else's fault?

Seems to me it would

Never have I seen a fan base so obsessed with deflecting blame off the QB.

It's literally down to making up a brand new stat to try and absolve Dak.

No matter how you could categorize if RAF or QAF. There are still fans that will disagree either way. They will have their opinions based on their own facts in their head. As well as facts you can't dispute. Well I guess that will always happen also.

There will always be those situations that will be debated. If it was a few inches better thrown it would not have been ripped. Or if the receiver ran his route just a few inches up or down find, or made his cut this or that, it would have not been timed.

It is a no win situation with with some. And that is not for or against Dak fans or Dak dislikers. It is just the way it is.

Also you have to bring in decision making. Did Dak throw it to the best receiver to make the catch. Did he throw it in double coverage. Did he throw if up hoping a receiver would make the catch, as in a hurried throw. Did he throw it to where only his player could catch it, or it would be incomplete, therefore eliminating an INT.

All I know is he best perform far above what he did last season, and the last 1/2 of the prior season if they want to go further in the playoffs.
Ever since his calf injury coming back from his broken foot, he has not seem the same to me.

Dak had arguably the best playoff performance in NFL playoff history against the Bucs with 300 yards and 5 TDs.

That was LAST year. He also continued to lead the #1 scoring offense in football with him behind center. Played amazing in the huge comeback victory late in the year against the Eagles............LAST YEAR.

Now if your going to cherry pick the game against the Niners on the road against the #1 defense in the NFL without Pollard thats a different story.

Not cherry picking any game or performance.
Just saying overall he needs to improve upon himself and eliminate the INTs which was an anomaly based on past seasons.
But his last 1 1/2 seasons have been below his standards. As there were all outlying reasons as well. As to team contributions, as well, Moore and his ill timed stupid play calls.

I want to see this MM lead offense and changes and play calling. One of the things I am looking forward to see.
Right there with Mazi on the DL and how Gilmore impacts the defense.

Agreed.

My worry is the Oline and the run game. Im just seeing the opposite based on personnel with the RB's. If they wanted to pound the ball more, Im not understanding what they did with drafting Deuce and not fixing the Oline.
