i think Tanney has all the tools to be a good QB in the league,he just wasnt given any chance behind a beyond awful backup o-line.Its all upto Tanney now to make a good impression and compete for the backup job next year.

I watched his trick shot youtube video for the first time over the weekend. That is an awesome video. I'm rooting for him. This year he could learn the offense and potentially develop into a back up.

Packers just cut their 2nd QB and only have Rodgers on the roster. Could Tanney be on their radar?

Was that Tanney? I thought it was another QB Dallas had in camp?

This is the reality behind the smoke and mirrors. Wasting all of those picks plunged Washington into perpetual losing seasons...

That's what happens when a team is left without a QB. Mark Rypien was a flash in the pan who had one great season in 91 which led to a SB win. His play started declining after that season and by 93 the Commanders needed a QB. Heath Shular was the highest rated QB in the 94 draft and went bust only lasting 3 seasons in Washington. Washington went through 17 QB's from 94 to 2011 trying to find a franchise player at the position. They burned three #1 picks on Shular, Patrick Ramsey and Jason Campbell and a #2 on McNabb before finally hitting on RG3. They just have to hope he stays healthy and injuries don't shorten his career.

Tell me how many times that works and how many times teams do that.

What do you mean?

You could make the argument that Favre could have taken the team to the super bowl had they put that pick towards some run support. Note that I'm not talking about that draft in particular. You like to ignore context, so I have to spell it out for you.

You could argue that he couldn't because the last 2 opportunities he had to reach the SB with the Packers and Vikings ended with him throwing a pick. Had the Packers held onto Favre they would have never won another SB all he did was choke his final few seasons. Favre was 40 when the Packers won the SB in 2010 with Rodgers. I don't ignore anything I'm very detail oriented you just have to make yourself clear.

In 2010 the Packers were 24th in rushing when they won the SB with Rodgers. They've been successful with him even without run support. The Packers were 21st in rushing in 07 under Favre and the final play of his Packers career ended with a pick in OT in the NFC title game. In 2009 in Minnesota Favre had Adrian Peterson who put up almost 1400 rushing yards and Favre ended up throwing away another NFC title game with a pick. Hard making an argument that an aging Favre could have taken any team to the SB if he had run support when he couldn't do it in Minnesota with Adrian Peterson in the backfield.

Perhaps but go back and tell me about how good that defense was in causing turnovers, allowing offensive yardage and limiting oppontents' scoring. The 2010 Packers won because they had a great all-around team that got hot right around playoff time.

The 2011 and 2012 Packers had better regular seasons but didn't win it all despite great seasons from Rodgers.

It takes a good team with good health playing great and usually a healthy serving of luck at the end of the year to win a championship.

The 2010 Packers weren't a great team they were 10-6 but they did get hot in the playoffs. A lot of the turnovers the Packers have been able to create have been due mostly to getting opponents behind and forcing them to press. In 2011 the Packers forced a number of turnovers due to Rodgers being virtually unstoppable. Teams getting down by 2-3 scores forces them to have to take chances to get back in the game which can result in turnovers. The defense can pin their ears back and come after the QB which leads to fumbles and int's.

The Packers didn't get far in 2011 despite a 15-1 season due to Rodgers being outgunned by Eli in the playoffs. Rodgers only had 2 off games that season and both ended in losses. The Packers live and die with Rodgers. Last season the Packers got knocked off in the playoffs by SF due to Kaepernicks incredible performance where he combined for 444 yards passing and rushing. Championships are coming down to which QB plays the best in the big games. Rodgers played a pretty good game last season in the playoffs but Kaepernick was a lot better. Flacco outplayed Kaepernick in the SB and it led to the Ravens winning.

I'll probably get a warning for posting this but whatever. The mods have been extremely lenient when it comes to 5Stars posts, and it makes me wonder if its due to the fact that he's a "die hard Romo supporter." He's the only person I've seen get away with countless disrespectful posts time and time again without any consequence. I've seen many posters having been warned or have had their posts edited and have done far less. The only consistency I've noticed is that they tend to be the people the Rant Zone was originally created for.

If you say anything remotely negative about Romo, or if he gets the itch to think you are (as witnessed above), he quotes you as being "stupid" or something else disrespectful, OR, he just quotes you to troll the hell out of you. And he obviously hasn't been reprimanded in anyway because he continues to do it. Part of the reason I don't post much and just lurk/check for updates on the Cowboys.

I think you should post more.
Whether you're right, or wrong about 5stars (which I'm not getting into)
This site needs more good posters, not good whiners.

then you will be frustrated. I predict the boys do not get serious about a QB pick for two more drafts. And even then they might not go early for one.

Yep, and it'll be another 10 years of QC, Hutch, Testaverde, Bleedslow.

The hot rumor earlier this summer was the Cowboys going QB in the 2nd round next year.

And in the 2010 playoffs Rodgers played a brutally awful game that the defense won on their way to the championship.

In 2012 the Packers didn't lose because Rodgers played badly - they lost because their defense got shredded by a hot QB.

Rodgers played ONE bad game during the 2010 playoffs. Other than the Chicago game he never had a passer rating lower than 111.5. Against Chicago he didn't play well but the Bears got worse QB play from Cutler, Collins and Caleb Hanie. Cutler was dreadful before his injury his passer rating was 42.9. Collins entered the game and couldn't complete a pass and got benched.

Hanie came in and ended up throwing 2 picks so Rodgers dodged a bullet that day but was brilliant in his 2 other playoff games and in the SB where he was named the games MVP. In the 2012 playoffs GB ran into a very hot QB in Kaepernick who played lights out. Like I mentioned big games come down to which QB plays the best and although Rodgers didn't play bad vs SF he simply got outplayed by a very hot QB.

Pretty well expect this and was not concerned with someone claiming him. I know there are some who feel he is the next starting QB but all I see is a young inexperianced QB who has a lot of work ahead of him
