I wouldn't mind bringing in Simms as a free agent but not in a trade.

Let him compete with Johnson and Bartel and see who wins out for the backup spot.

Johnson - smart guy, been around a LONG Time, can't throw 20 yards anymore

Bartel - virtually unknown, has potential, strong arm, but does he have it between the ears

Simms - smart guy, left-handed (makes it difficult to plan for one guy), good movement in the pocket, good arm

Favorite if all three were here, would say Bartel only since Garrett has worked with him alot.

I don't think Simms moves well in the pocket. He is a decent athlete, but he has poor pocket presence. Simms has a career 8.0% sack percentage for his brief career. Romo is at 5.0%. Brad Johnson is at 5.4% and Drew Bledsoe is at 6.5%.

I can't believe there is even a thread about this guy! He sucks just like he did in college! I would rather bring back Chad Hutchinson then get this guy. To me they are on the same level!

With Simms penchant for remembering people that have crossed him, I don't think it's a wise choice. Seems he's never quite been able to deal with the pressure of having a famous father. Something always falls short, and what is his take on being a backup rather than a starter?

I like Simms as a backup -- sure, he's not great but good god folks, if he was, he wouldn't be available. What I see in Simms is a guy who can come in and maybe steal a game for you if Romo gets hurt. The other side of that is Johnson, who seems to be at his best handing the ball off. I think with BJ, the team was looking for a vet for Romo to use as a sounding board but I don't see that at all.
