QB garbage time passing yardage 2025

What one player? I count at least 12 of them. Are you talking about poor Dak getting made fun of?
One player that is always brought up in every thread on here. Some will disregard all the other players.
Make fun of Dak all you want. It is entertainment to see how funny as well ridiculous some comments are. Pro and con.

I am not defending Dak either. I just find it funny, that fans use this stat only against Dak and no other QB when it come to this forum.
This is certainly true for some. But there are others, myself included, who don't keep up with the goings on with other franchises. I couldn't even tell you the starting QB's for most teams. Everyone knows who starts in Philly and KC, but outside of those 2? That long haired what's-his-name starts in Jacksonville, but I would have to Google most of the rest. Don't know, don't care.

Hmmm, seems funny Dak's name would pop up on a Cowboy message board. That is why I can't wait for him to hit the road, then us mean fans that dog him won't do it anymore.

Or in Dak's case - he goes 6 straight 3 and outs to start a game. In the meantime the defense gets worn down by half and is getting their butts kicked and Dallas trails 28-0. The opposing team takes their foot off the gas and Dak is only then able to start moving the ball at will and his homers are fooled into thinking he is leading a massive come back. In reality, the opposing defense is letting them start piling up yards.

Any yards gained in this example are 'garbage time'.

I understand why some want to defend Dak, but there are far too many instances where the defense started getting their rear ends handed to them because the offense stunk and kept their own defense on the field too long. The offense has to do their part too.

I can't wait either actually. But he is our QB and I will root for wins. I am not one that wants him to fail just because I want a change at QB. We are stuck for the next few years. For when he is not injured.

Well, you won't have to "want" him to fail, he will do that on his own.

Shut up.

You are complaining that we blew some teams out and kept the foot on the gas? This is not the issue that you are having. Please seek services.
What teams did we blow out last season while Dak was playing for him to accumulate 420 garbage time yards (in 8 games)? Cleveland and...

No one.

Here is the list, let me know where I missed.

Most of those yards are from being embarrassed by the Lions, Saints, and in the 4th quarter of the Ravens game when we were down 28-6.

I mean the graphic says it they consider garbage time if you have a 95 percent chance of winning the game at that point it’s all garbage time which is nuts lol. So basically Goff is penalized because his team was too good lol.

Bad teams will have a lot of garbage time passing yards, IMO. Teams with the lead don't usually throw the ball as much as they try to burn the clock.
Some teams do though you saw what Lions did to us they wanted to kill us and yeah Goff was a big part of that. But at the end of the day I don’t understand how it’s considered garbage time lol.

And how many yards would Goff have if he had played 17 games? Or it Love played 17?
Too lazy to do the math yourself?

I will give you a hand - he played in all 17, so he finishes right where he is now.

In case you are wondering (or even care) Dak averaged 52.5 a game while Goff averaged 50.4. And for the record, it's a dumb stat that proves nothing we didn't already know.

Does it still count as garbage time stats if the team ends up winning?…does it still count as garbage time stats if the win probability is less than 5% in the 2nd quarter? In that scenario if the win % increases from 5% in the 1st half, to, say, 6% in the 2nd half, do the stats in the 2nd half no longer count as garbage time stats?

I think it’s dumb altogether it has to be a better way to gauge garbage stats than to only calculate yards when you have a 95 percent chance of winning or a 5 percent chance of winning. So if I only have a 10 percent chance of winning it’s not garbage stats lol.

I've never even heard of the percentage thing. To me 'garbage time' has always been about a team that is getting their butts beat so bad the opposing offense / defense takes their foot off the gas and your offense can suddenly start moving the ball at will. Use the 2023 GB playoff game for a perfect example. GB took most of their starters out early in the 2nd half and Dallas started looking competent when they weren't anywhere close.
