Seeing how deep this draft class is for QBs, would taking a QB in the 2nd round be a good or bad idea?

With Romos contract, he's going to be around quite a while. The Qb's contract will probably expire before Romo steps away from the game. So drafting one now doesn't make a whole bunch of sense to me.

Romo replacement is playing high school ball somewhere.

-Aaron Murray or Zach Mettenberger in the 4th or 5th round would be my guess. They'll slip because of their torn ACL's and inability to participate at the combine, and the Cowboys love value.

-Jimmy Garoppolo is a nother guy to look out for. Plays at Romo's alma mater and would be a nice player to develop. I wouldn't take a QB before the 4th round though. We need those picks and Romo's here to stay for a while whether you like it or not.

-Personally, I'd like to wait until next year to draft Mariota and develop him for a couple years. He'll only be 21 when he comes out. But I doubt that happens, and I think we draft someone in the later rounds this year.

I don't know the answer, if there is any answer, to this question....out of all of these mentioned, which one will have a great pocket presence, and also the ability to run in case it breaks down.

Surprised McCarron is so high. I always liked the kid but Bama QBs seem to never get any love at the pro level.

I would take one in the second round, this is not indicative of any Romo hate but that position needs to be address since Romo is 33 yrs. old.

Manziel, Bortles, Boyd, and Smith are the most athletic and can all scramble well. But the "poise" thing is much harder to determine. Bridgewater is probably the best in that department right now, but no way we land him. I'd say Bortles and McCarron have also shown the best poise out of the group. The problem is all these guys will go in the first 3 rounds. I seriously doubt the Cowboys would draft a QB before the 4th.

Can we just get the Fresno State QB(my school), or is he up to the first round now?

Also, Bortles girlfriend is a DIME and I wouldn't mind staring at her on the sidelines for the next few years if we somehow got him

It's time to start looking for Romo's replacement in this or next year's draft. Jerry had to have learned his lesson after Aikman. Right?

I agree with you except for the high school ball part. Romo's contract realistically looks to be up in four years. Even if his replacement is a senior this year, do you really want to turn the keys over to an NFL rookie?
