Maybe because they already have considering assets tied up at qb? Spending another draft pick and 14 million seems a little overboard.
Oh, it's certainly "overboard", but the Osweiler move was a failure. And everyone, including the Texans, knows it. They admitted themselves when they benched the guy less than one year into the deal. But if you can right a wrong and give yourself a chance for a championship, why wouldn't you do that?
Doesn't that make better sense than to try to force something that's obviously not there? That team - with no quarterback play to speak of - held their own in a playoff game against the eventual Super Bowl champs. Who knows what could have happened if they had one?
Anyways, I think there is a lot of mutual interest. My hope is that Tony ends up in Houston because he has a real chance to succeed there in a weak division. The Broncos look like a good fit on paper but they have some great pass rushers in that division that can put some helmets on Romo---that alone may make Elway weary of sending a draft pick to acquire him. If Houston is the only team willing to trade for him, that minimizes Romo's trade value because everyone knows he won't be a Cowboy next season so it's either take what we can get or release him.
And I'm fine with taking whatever they can get. I won't criticize Jerry for getting something. But I will if he gets nothing.
