QB Osweiller to Houston Texans *Mega Merge*

Broncos sign Peyton Manning in 2012. Then in round 2 April 2012 draft the QB of the future in Brock Osweiler. They were forward thinking at the time and hedged their bets due to being unsure about Manning. Then the kid doesn't play until 2015 for 7 games, Manning retires and the team was unsure of what the market was for a QB that hasn't played. Now...they have neither.

Tough break....

but for all those saying "hey, draft romo's replacement and in 3 years he can take over..."

1) romo isn't likely to go 3 more years.
2) if he does, what's to keep drafted player we invested in here?

The kid has played hardly any football at all. One full senior season at ASU. He was injured........a lot in college. Nobody knows anything about him, football- wise, IMO. Good luck to both teams. Lol......

Ok. Then maybe there is.

Elway needs to contact Jerry. Maybe he can walk him through this we'll get our franchise QB on our own damn schedule thing we're so good at.

That's not a fair assessment of the Elway situation Risen. He did what all the QB or bust people say to do and that's draft your future QB and let him sit until it's his time. Except, the initial franchise guy didn't breakdown until it was the contract year of the unproven future keeper of the franchise. How much do you pay him? What is his market?

They used a mid round pick on him and he helped sustain them in a Super Bowl winning season. I fail to see the lament over the pick.

You want true regret? Try standing pat and waiting until Romo is done. Now you truly have no chance to compete until you find one.

Pretty much. If nothing else he helped them stay competitive until Manning came back. They got their money's worth.

Miller and oweiler nice pickups.

Im afraid we are the 2nd best Texas team now.
:(

I agree with you. But, who says Romo won't last until Wentz or Goff's option year? Say he does and is still playing well. Do you pick up the option on Goff or Wentz? How much will that be by that time $23-25mil for that option year? Or, do you take the chance and allow him to hit the market after year 4 without much playing time hoping he won't get a hefty deal and leave?

Dallas has major decisions to make...don't envy them. Well...except their paychecks. LOL!

Kind of figured this nonsense was coming.

Their cap issues, along with the fact that Osweiler might not have appreciated being benched for an inferior Manning down the stretch is why he is gone.

That and the fact that he's still unproven.

But hey, we don't need to worry about it. We can get a quarterback any time we want...

Huge that Broncos now have no QB. Guess they'll have to look for Lynch, Hackenberg or Cook in the draft. Good luck.

They used a 2nd rounder on him (#57 overall). I'm not lamenting the pick at all but Elway may be.

Believe me, I understand the desire to have the bridge between QB's being a franchise guy to a franchise guy. It is a great concept but rarely becomes a reality.
