Every once in awhile, I like to see how stats compare to the perception of players. Today we are going to look at six franchise quarterbacks in the NFL and how they have performed since 2011. Take a look at these stats and choose your quarterback. Can you name one of these?

Which QB would you choose based only on these statistics? Try not to cheat!

I choose #3. Highest TD-INT percentage, highest Quarterback Rating, 15K yards, and a large number of 4th quarter comebacks and game winning drives.

Without looking I'd guess.
1 Joe Flacco
2 Eli Manning
3 Tony Romo
4 Tom Brady (Would say Ben but TD-INT ratio is too good)
5 Andrew Luck
6 Drew Brees

Oddly enough Cowherd yesterday lambasted fans for thinking Eli was better than Romo; put up Romo's stats and even though I still prefer rings it was impressive. There you go (WPB), he may not think highly of the Cowboys but Romo is definitely a top 10 to him; best 4th quarter QB in past 5 years or something, and a bunch of other things others on here have been arguing about for a while now. Pretty good stuff but nothing that hasn't been said here; as much as I hate to admit it it's nice having someone besides one of us use his stats against other teams fans top robe their point on how good Romo is.

He even discussed Romo's propensity to make a bad play at the wrong time and showed how he has done that far less than we have been led to believe, more of a bright light big city's alas Cowboys thing with the media than actual fact.

Best case he made was Romo throws 1 int in a prime time game and the country does bananas, Manning throws 3 picks; q a pick six and crickets from the media. Said manning was the recipient of a relentless pass rush defense and good coaching; where Romo has had.... Well we know what he has had. Good points all but I sure wish there was a ring with those stats though.

This would be fun to post on Facebook. But I'd also like one with Brees and Brady thrown in there. Just to show how good our #9 is. Every time someone gets in my face and says Romo sucks, I bust out stats - but they don't care or are too stupid. It's nice to now have a visual aid I can whip out. lol.

This is an excellent thread, one which fits its premise well. I did take a peek at the filled-in list. It's eerie how often I have engaged in a franchise quarterback conversion and these particular names get thrown into them, All of them receive some degree of criticism during a discussion but usually the amount assigned to Romo is very disproportionate to the others. Makes it difficult having an intelligent conversation with someone who argues Romo is not a franchise quarterback while providing nothing substantial to support the conclusion.

The top 4 QB's in the league arent on this list so its just slanted towards Romo

Yes, the data is slanted toward Romo when compared to the other QBs in the data field. The point of that data wasn't to say Romo was a top 4 or 5 QB or better than Peyton, Brady, Rodgers or Brees. It was to illustrate that the perception of Romo compared to these other guys(Flacco, Eli, Stafford, Ryan, Rivers) is wrong. The perception being that these particular QB are all much better and more clutch than Romo, which the data disputes.
