RELEASED QB Will Grier released

Sam Howell sucks. He's not even as good as Will Grier. Who is anyone trying to kid around here? Another dumb decision by the front office.

Will Grier sucks, tell him to go back to Waltons mountain, it's over next to Brokeback mountain where dak and his groupies camp.

Nobody is claiming he doesn't need a lot of work. Turned the ball over way too much in his only season as a starter. But he's got all the physical tools and is a very good leader.

He's shown way more than fastball Joe Milton. We're not trying to kid anybody. We're talking about a developmental backup QB.

It would have been a dumb decision to simply sit idle and roll with Milton as Dak's backup again. We know how we all feel about the Jones' but it's also not necessary to crap all over every single player they bring in before they even put on a Cowboys helmet.

Hes always been a non NFL qb.
i agree. And if he has coaching aspirations, now might be the time to get into that part of the game. Some of these backup guys that hardly ever played carve out a nice 2nd career.
Everything I've read is that he's a great guy.

Neither am I. But I need to see more. I don’t think he is the long term Dak replacement though.
Nowhere near it, we cut grier I hope we're not just sold on bringing him back all the time. Get a young guy to develop doesn't hurt

I think Milton's legs give him an advantage over Grier.

Grier was too much like Howell so my guess is they worked out Grier and felt they could do better, so they signed Howell.

They very well may do the same thing to Howell at some point.
Milton is a big kid, big arm, and good legs... Football IQ not so great. But, if the defense is descent, you can win games with him I think.
Grier... Physical tools, I would keep him over Grier any day.

Howell was stuck on a bad Washington team a few years ago and hasn't gotten another chance since.

To me he's worth a look at least.
He has a nice arm. He sure looked good against us. He threw for nearly 4K yards and was sacked 65 times

Do you think we pick up another in the draft or after
I think Bazooka Joe is still very much the QB project who will keep them from doing anything else at QB and I think Howell being brought in is to protect Joe from himself while he develops.

Personally, I would have cut Milton and let Howell and Grier battle for the backup spot.
I know it's a small sample and a throwaway game, but Milton had nearly the same stats as dak...plus 55 yards rushing.

I think he'd make a capable backup if we adjust for his legs.
