QB2? I'm going with Howell

Milton throws a prettier ball but I'm going with Howell as the better QB2 right now. Howell just looks more poised in the pocket and more aware of where the ball needs to go. Doesn't have the arm or athleticism of Milton, but I think he can win games if Dak goes down. I just don't trust Milton being able to handle the starting job even if he does look improved from last season.

He will get plenty of playing time in preseason. But right I'm right there with you. He has started 18 games in this league and is on his 5th team with the Cowboys. Drafted in 2022 he has seen a lot in 4 years. He isn't Dak, but he would be my #2 right now.

I won't be surprised if Howell gets the Grier treatment, handshake deal to be put on the practice squad since he's a vet and can't be claimed, as Dallas gives Milton one more year to live up to his arm and athleticism. Then, we can bring up Howell or sign him to the 53 as needed.

Howell has the ability to be another Jason Garrett, a safe and capable steward when the starter goes down.
But I wish to see more of Milton.

QB is a mental position first and an athlete second.

I think it will come down to who plays and manages the offense better in preseason games.

I honestly don't care who wins as long as one of them looks good enough to rely on should Dak get injured.

If not, then they should look at veteran quarterbacks who get cut before the season starts.

I totally agree with you. Howell had my respect when he carved up our defense years ago and it wasn't an historically bad "Eberflus defense". Howell can play!

I had to double back and check again.... I did not mention Dak's name at all. I recall saying that Rush is not better than Howell.

So in what way or on what planet does that mean Dak could possibly be worse? Please explain what logic supports your argument...

Howell is a caretaker Milton offers more upside but let’s see if Dallas gives up on him . I wasn’t comparing Rush / Howell arm strength . Brandon Weedon is absurd .
