Great article talking about the QB trap that the Vikings fell into last off season. Sounds a heck of a lot like the situation we are headed towards with Dak.

The Vikings flew straight into the pitcher plant with Cousins by paying a premium for a journeyman whose only hope for an MVP season comes from being surrounded by a superteam.

Just because the market says $30 million for your QB who is hitting Free agency at the right time doesn't mean he is Brees, Wilson, Rodgers, Luck.
Dak is an average starter. You can win with him, he won't kill you with a 5 turnover game. I never expect him to carry this team because I know what to expect. He has a solid floor and a low celing. Not someone I want to pay 30 million a year for.
All the Dak lovers can spin doctor this all day, but if you are actually honest with yourself. Dak is not an elite QB, and I am not insulting him. He is what he is. A good QB who should be paid fairly. To me that number is what Foles is getting in Jacksonville.

A thread discussing Dak's value. Hmm, hadn't thought of that.

Dak was the best QB in the NFC the second half of last season after he got a true #1. Which includes the likes of Brees, Wilson, Rodgers and Ryan....all of which have top #1 WRs in the NFL. Everyone needs talent

Kirk Cousins is a talented pure passer who is awesome at putting up stats, but plays his worst in the 4th quarter when the game is on the line.

Dak Prescott is not as talented at purely passion, but has proven that he plays his best football in the 4th quarter when the game is on the line.

The point is, Prescott and Cousins have a lot of differences. So the outcome could be far different.

Furthermore, the Vikings having a down season last year, isn’t due to any cap restraints from signing Cousins. So the 30mil/year figure isn’t even proven to be a reason the Vikings weren’t successful.

Why is it that these 'Dak attack' threads never actually contain any statistics?

It's like Groundhog Day concerning Dak's contract, and once he signs whatever the numbers, it's going to be Groundhog Day the sequel

I just found this article to be very interesting. The NFL is too much of a copy cat league, the team should also consider a contrarian viewpoint. Paying 30 million for an average QB is not something any team should be lining up to do. You have to make sure he is the real deal, who can win you the SB. Wilson, Brady, Brees, Rodgers have all taken very average WR's and made them stars. Dak has not and realistically does not have the accuracy or arm talent of those guys. I want to again point out, I am a big fan of Dak.
Please give me a Dak comp who has won a SB over the past 20 years? Eli , Brad Johnson, Dilfer? The long and short of my argument is that Dak is not a franchise QB, hence why pay 30 million a year for a guy who is not a franchise guy. I know this is a bit of a take, but you need to have a take every once in a while.

I can't really figure it out. I guess some people just really don't care for Dak. I for one like him, win or lose.

I offer him a take it or leave it deal. If he leaves it you tag him next year and start looking for the next bus driver.

I can see your point on that. Quarterback salaries continue to skyrocket and at some point, a team is going to have to reverse the trend, say "No", and let their quarterback walk.

But I will point this out. In his three playoff games, Dak Prescott was NOT the reason the Cowboys lost. In fact, he did more than enough for his team to win all of the games he's been involved in, and outplayed his counterparts.

Cowboys should have done this with Bus driver Aikman by these haters standards. We should have let him walk after his rookie contract.

It's because the actual facts and stats refute their opinions, so they avoid them like the plague

Aikman is a Hall of Famer with three super bowl rings and had a pin point accurate rocket launcher for an arm.

Yup, fruit is fruit. How was Aikmans bus without Emmitt? Or if he didn't have Irvin?

Dak is much better than Cousins so the comparison isn’t valid. Dak is hardly a “ jouneyman”. He’s the second winningest QB since entering the league, only trailing the GOAT. He’s also extremely clutch, durable, a great teammate and leader.

Hard to say. Have to ask Mrs. Cousins and Dak's girlfriend to know the answer to that...

As far as football goes - Dak has those intangibles. Tough to measure whatever it is but the guy is a winner. I also think he is a better passer than many here give him credit for. He will never be Dan Marino but Dak can throw the ball. The poor OL play and scheme have held him back some in my opinion.
