Quelching the doubts against Jaydon Blue

There are 7 RB's on the current roster.

2024 leftovers
Luepke, more of a FB and may be out if Mafah can do what he does, along with a TE if they keep 4 TE's
Davis' time has come, even for the PS depending on who is kept.
Deuce, can his spot be in jeopardy also, again depending how many they keep

FA's
Williams, some fans think he is done, but is he?
Sanders, same as Williams, but I see Williams and the rookies having a roster spot over him

Drafted
Blue, he will make at the team, they like their draft picks, and look at the above competition. His speed alone gets him a spot.
Mafah, basically his competition is Luepke and Williams.

This should be an interesting TC battle for the top 3 RB's. Do they each do enough for them to keep 4.
Could be one of the more competitive areas, along with WR2.
Since they plan on running more, they may want to keep 2 rb on the practice squad, and as many as possible on the roster.
They have injuries, then next guy up.

He was a 6th round pick for a reason. I said 2016 but he was drafted in 2018. He lasted only one season in the NFL and had only 68 yards rushing with a 2.7 average. Not saying Blue will end up like him but only time will tell if he’ll be any good.
I can’t find how tall he is, ESPN says 6 foot. Fox News is 6 foot Google 5/9 somebody else 5/9. What do we split the difference?

Blue is a very interesting prospect you can coach him up to protect the ball but you can't coach up the speed he has this guy is blazing fast and should create all kinds of mismatches if we are smart enough to be able to recognize and use them.

Hopefully Daks hamstring is healed and he is able to capitalize on this guy's speed out of the backfield and hit him in stride it could make for some really good football to watch.

That said this guy is not a pass protector he is not built like a fullback you don't drive your Corvette off-road and you don't run your power wagon on Mulholland drive
Use the guy for what he's built to deliver which is highlight plays in space.
Pitch him the ball like Roger used to do with Tony dorsett get the guys pulling out in front of him and let him pick a whole and turn on the Jets could be a lot of fun to watch.

Understood, but the 3rd video is an actual breakdown video.
I like Voch but his breakdown videos have become more of highlights lately as well. Blue didn't have that many touches in college it doesn't take that long to go through whole games for him.

I think Blue is a great prospect and I wouldn't bet against him being successful. He could be Tony Pollard or Chris Johnson if everything works out.

He does have some things he needs to work on. Fumbling was rough and a big reason why he didn't get as many touches, his contact balance is ok but could be better and I think we'll see that with more weight room work.

His ability to make guys miss is underrated because often they end up so far away when he makes a great cut that you think he just out ran them. His vision is good and he sets up blocks well most of the time. With his speed I wouldn't have been surprised to see him go in the early 3rd.

Pass protection is my only concern. He's just a little smaller than you would like. Other than that, he has the potential to be a 3 down RB1.

Imagine game 8, and the Cowboys have just received the opening kickoff. Their starting lineup takes the field. Who is the starting RB? My prediction is Blue.
He doesn’t stonewall guys but he knows who to block and shows effort.

From this type of back that’s all you can ask.

ESPN has him at 6 feet 197,
Emmitt Smith was 5-9 1/2 199 when drafted. I know this because I had a DCW subscription in the 1990s.

If you are talking about Blue he's 5-9 196 which is from the combine/proday.

The true measure of an OC is to get his skill players in match-ups where the success of the player is maximized. The video stated he caught 42 passes for 368 yards and 6 TDs in 2024. Considering his speed, it occurs the task is to get this player on the outside, or in open field. Can he step up in the slot and be an added receiver at times?

With the potential of the offensive line, I just hope Blue isn't buried in naked screens, jet sweeps, and stacked defensive fronts.

I think one of the points of view that has changed for the fandom of this team since the Landry days is the negative sentiment which is pervasive on this board. There is a large enough sample size to suggest this is the prevalent mindset of fans throughout the Cowboy nation. But truthfully, regardless of the brain trust or players who have fallen out of favor, there are things to be positive about with this team.

Broaddus stated Dallas took three players in his top 35. I also believe Blue will succeed. I find it difficult to be a fan of a team that has no hope. Or among those who portray this attitude.

Broaddus said he was one of the top at contact balance. It was specifically one of the traits that Schott was looking for.
