Does anyone know if the Chargers have him locked up? That guy looks like a top 5 CB (at least)...it would be great to have him and Newman.

Funny how the Roy vs Jammer debate has come full circle.

And to think, Jammer REALLY wanted to be a Cowboy coming out of college. He was on the Best Damm Sports Show Period along with Roy Williams. They both expressed a burning desire to play for Dallas. Roy was 100% confident he would be a Cowboy and he was right, of course. Jammer wasn't as confident, but you could see the longing in his eyes. Even when he was drafted by San Diego, his face dropped when they picked him just before the Dallas selection. I'm sure he's happy now, but it's nice that so many guys want to be Cowboys coming out of college.

That's a good point. :(

But we'd gotten Jammer, it's almost guaranteed that we wouldn't have Newman. And Newman is a far better corner.

I don't think you guys have watched a whole lot of Jammer through out his career.

His game against the Pats was nice but the guy has been a penalty machine ever since hes been in the league.

He gets toasted a lot too.

The best thing that ever happened to him was Cromartie stepping up the way he has.

Cromartie is a top 5 corner. Jammer doesn't even sniff top 5.

True.

And had we picked Jammer (not that we had a chance), and then passed on Newman, we may have picked Suggs, and then passed on Ware.

So how bout we pass on Roy, trade down and grab Ed Reed. Very nice! (or Henderson at 9, Freeney at 11, or Haynesworth at 15)

PS - just noticed Colombo was #29 overall that year, speaking of irony.

Ahhh, the benefits of hindsight. :)

Not really saying Jammer is all that. But early play from Jammer vs Roy was very much in Roy's favor. Its very different now. Jammer has elevated, Roy has faded.

I think Quentin Jammer is a very solid cornerback in the NFL.

Throughout his college career, he was known for being physical and his aggressive nature.

To continue, I think the Pro-Wide Receiver Rules the NFL has instated has really limited players like Quentin Jammer, who are very aggressive and like to punish Wide Receivers. Once he started operated under NFL guidelines, I think a little bit of his natural instincts were taken away.

It probably took Quentin Jammer quite of bit of time to change his playing style in order to play within the framework of the NFL rules regarding Pass Interference while also trying to be an effective Cornerback.

To get really hindsightish about someone we could have taken instead of Roy, look at John Henderson. Really good mammoth DT for a long time now.

Pick Jammer and Dallas finishes even worse than 5-11 in 2002.

There is no Roy Williams to play well at St. Louis, a Dallas win.

There is no Roy Williams to play well against Washington on Thanksgiving, a Dallas win.

Any of those 5 glorious victories would be in question with Jammer getting beat and beat often at one of the corner spots. That would put Dallas drafting higher and who knows who Bill Parcells would have drafted in 2003.

Maybe Dallas gets #1 and drafts Carson Palmer or Charles Rogers at #2, Andre Johnson at #3 or Dewayne Robertson at #4. Could have changed the whole team and maybe not for the better.

These picks show how the draft is an art not a science. When I get the finishing touches on that time machine complete, I will run the Cowboys draft and we'll be unstoppable.

I made a time machine at home out of common everyday household products. I sent myself 15 minutes into the future. Unfortunately, the physical, mental and emotional strain of the jump has really screwed up my brain. I can no longer remember the exact ingredients necessary to make the time machine work again. I am afraid I am stuck in the future forever. I should have performed some animal testing. One day no matter how long it takes, I will make it home.

Jammer had (and still has) issues at CB. He isn't and has never been a top CB.

Exactly.

The NFL is set up for offenses to own the defense. Jammers style is what hurt him more than anything.
