With all the issues of Mo's injury and next contract, I started looking into Brandon Carr.
Carr seems to be having a good year.
Do you think switching the side he defends have had a good effect?

Also regarding his contract, it appears he has 2017 as a voidable year with a $2.7M restructuring bonus.
What exactly does that mean?
Do we have him for 2017 under contract - I guess not?

Is the contract voidable by Carr or the Team or either.
I didn't read the link, as my iPad is not quite up to doing well right now....lol....

But switching Carr back to his normal side of the field has really helped a lot.
Not concerned with contracts for Carr or Mo right now. I will look at that after the season, as it doesn't mean thong right now.

It's time to move on from both of them, and get corners that will see the field (mo) and can actually tackle (carr). I know that can't be done in one off-season, but I will be really disappointed if either one of them is still on the team in 2018.

I think it is the team, but no base salary shown.

Details of his contract were scarce when he signed a new deal in April .......but when they restructured his 2013 salary they added a voidable year in 2017 to spread out the cap hit to 5 years........that year has already voided but the 2.7m in dead money remains on the books for next year

The 2.7m for Carr will hit whether he is here or not.........I don't think they should re-sign him unless he takes a very team friendly deal....like 3m a year or less.....I would sign Mo for around 6m a year

Normally dead money doesn't exist for a player in his last year of a contract but Dallas did this with Free and may have also done this with Romo and Maybe Dez if they restructure him this year...the last 2 years on Romo's deal were always "placeholders" or voidable imo......they never were going to pay him 20m in 2018-19....but it made the deal look bigger for Tony and his agent's pride and it spread out the 25m SB and the restructures....a 4/68m extension was reported as 6/108m in new money or 7/119m total

Carr is slightly above average but still an asset and should be kept at a reasonable fee. Mo is a high risk low return player and should be let go. He is simply not reliable, due to continous injuries, and never will be. He is OK on the cheap as a rotational type...but certainly not a man that can be counted in for an entire season and more importantly...the playoffs.

Why not? Those last two years are right in line with the rest of the leagues starting caliber qbs.

I see. So no team option then.
thanks!

In KC he played primarily the right side. He said it's where he felt more comfortable

Carr seems like a good tackler to me. I've been happy with his play this year for the most part.

Carr's been solid this year. Seems like he rarely gets targeted, and when he does, he's frequently in good position.

Adding to that, he's also extremely durable and an RKG. I'd love to have him back on a reasonable 2-3 year deal.

Yep. A bloodthirtsy, QB hating Passrusher AND an overall improvement in Defensive side team toughness. Defensive toughness has been a missing element for too many years. Can not win a SB without it.

So exactly what is not "tough" about our defense?

I see a group of guys that aren't very good but tackle well and work together. I don't see how this is a soft defense in anyways.

You can win a super bowl with an above average defense by the way.

Because we have never paid him that much......he averaged around 15m during his peak.....we are paying him 8.5m this year and 14m next year.........we aren't all of a sudden going to give him 20m for his 2 last years

The guaranteed money ran out this season and that is how contracts are judged

Carr is always available even if mo is a better player. I suspect one of them will be back and both have good and bad points. Mo is younger and a better player but has yet to play a full season, Carr less talented but is available every week. Tough decision

Before coming to Dallas had always been a RCB. But because they paid so much they decided to put him on the left side and let him cover the teams best. While in KC he was considered one of the best RCBs in the nfl. That and he was brought to dallas to play Ryans press coverage which was his forte. But Ryan got the hook and Kiffin brought the zone. Once Marinelli went more press Carr showed better football.

IMO, get carr and spend resources on DE.
Though BK did indicate we have enough money to resign most of our FAs.

No team wins a SB without a hot or top defense. Nasty, tough defensive players are a must. Any Cowboy team that won SB's had two things in common. A top Running Game and a tough defense. Presently the club has one of those elements. Now go and find a Haley or Randy White to lead the defense and the SB's will soon follow.;)!

Carr will suffice from the availability standard.

Mo needs titanium implants...from the neck down.
