To date, the ROH includes twenty-four inductees - twenty being players, the remaining four being coaches Landry and Johnson, GM Tex Schramm and the legendary scouting director Gil Brandt.

The last Cowboys PLAYER inducted was Demarcus Ware, who last wore the team colors in the 2013 season. Eleven seasons ago. Before HIM, Darren Woodson - who last wore the colors in 2003… twenty-one years ago.

Jason Witten, who last wore the colors in 2019, would seem a lock as the NEXT inductee. So, WHEN?

And we can reasonably speculate that Zack Martin will get some ROH run going forward.

Beyond the aforementioned players - who do YOU consider the favorite to merit ROH consideration in the future and why?

Locks in the near future:
  • Jason Witten
  • Tony Romo
Locks in next decade:
  • Tyron Smith
  • Zack Martin
Witten, Smith and Martin are future NFL HOFers.
I noticed that all the former Cowboys HOFers who WEREN’T in the ROH were pretty much ‘rentals’. Adderly, Alworth, Ditka, etc.

You pretty much have to be a homegrown Cowboys player to make the ROH.

But you can be in the ROH without being in the HOF: Woodson, Harvey Martin - which gives me hope for Romo.

like to see some of coach landry's 'boys get in the ring:
de ed "too tall" jones
de harvey martin
db cornell green
cb everson walls
ot ralph neely
og nate newton
qb danny white
te billy joe dupree
just to name a few...
Harvey ‘Too Mean’ is in. Green is a cornerback fixture from my beginnings as a Cowboys fan - and a testament to the early genius of Gil Brandt. The reliable Green was a college basketball player who NEVER played a down of football before being drafted by the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys were playing draft ‘chess’ when the rest of the NFL was drafting checkers (sounds trite - but it’s very true).

Martin's exclusion is a head scratcher. I think the fact sacks were not an official stat until 1982 hurts him. But, we still know from the game film that he had 20 sacks in a 14 game season and was the NFL's defensive MVP in 1977 and the Super Bowl co-mvp that year. Landry called him second only to Bob Lilly as a pass rusher.

Woodson just played in the shadow of the triplets his whole career and never got the headlines. Both are HOF snubs but had the type of career and hardware required to be in the ROH.
I disagree on Romo. I think he just played in an era of prolific passing numbers. He never won anything. He made 4 pro bowls and was AP all-pro second team once. That's a pretty thin case for ROH.

Witten is different bc they let in DWare and his gold jacket, how do you deny Witten and his impending gold jacket?

It’s a travesty that Harvey Martin, Cornell Green, Everson Walls arent in already. Martin was a co-SB MVP, NFL Defensive Player of the Year, and 3 time ALL PRO! Cornell Green was a three time FIRST TEAM ALL PRO, at two different positions- CB and S. And Walls was an interception machine and allso a three time FIRST TEAM ALL PRO.

I'm afraid those players won't be honored in the Ring. Jerry is in charge of the selection, and any player still left from the Landry era is not important to Jerry's legacy. It's too bad there couldn't be an unbiased selection committtee for this honor, but alas, there is not.

No way in hell Romo deserves it. Come on, man. You gotta actually do something special to earn it. Danny White deserves it far more than Romo, and I don't think he should get in either.

Jerry said at some point no more pre Jerry guys going in, he can’t have guys before his time going in because it’s too much for his ego to handle.
