To date, the ROH includes twenty-four inductees - twenty being players, the remaining four being coaches Landry and Johnson, GM Tex Schramm and the legendary scouting director Gil Brandt.

The last Cowboys PLAYER inducted was Demarcus Ware, who last wore the team colors in the 2013 season. Eleven seasons ago. Before HIM, Darren Woodson - who last wore the colors in 2003… twenty-one years ago.

Jason Witten, who last wore the colors in 2019, would seem a lock as the NEXT inductee. So, WHEN?

And we can reasonably speculate that Zack Martin will get some ROH run going forward.

Beyond the aforementioned players - who do YOU consider the favorite to merit ROH consideration in the future and why?
Witten will become eligible for HOF 5 years after retiring. And if he’s 1st year ballot and induction then I’d expect him in ROH about same time , probably same year.

And the same rule would apply for Martin or any others initial threshold.

That said there’s always the possibility of older players being inducted into ROH but I wouldn’t expect unless they are nominated for HOF.

He will get a giant statue at the stayjum after he joins the choir eternal. Btw as a funny side note, I have a cousin from the Philly area who is an egirls fan.
He says they talk all the time in Philly about putting a Jerry statue outside their stadium,
Now that would be epic!!

The good news is the HOF inducts a senior player every year now which allows the possibility an old player could be enshrined which would open the door for ROH.

This has been the case for Jimmy, Drew, Rayfield and Bullet. Bullet was done posthumously.

The last Cowboys PLAYER inducted was Demarcus Ware, who last wore the team colors in the 2013 season.
Mentioning Demarcus Ware only reminds me of Jerry Jones' otherworldly hypocrisy. Jones never thought of inducting Ware into the Ring of Honor.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame inducted Ware on August 5, 2023. Eighteen days later, Jones announced Ware would be inducted into the Ring. Jones officially added Ware on October 29, 2023.

Ware's Hall to Ring ceremonies took 85 days.

In contrast, Jimmy Johnson was enshrined in the Hall on August 7, 2021. Any members can watch the 85-second refresher of Jones' infamy two days earlier below:

After being cornered by his daughter Charlotte Anderson Jones and Troy Aikman during the Netflix documentary shooting, Jones announced he would induct Johnson into the Ring on November 23, 2023. The regular season was soon coming to an end, so the turnaround from announcement to Johnson's official addition into the Ring was 31 days on December 30, 2023.

Johnson's Hall to Ring ceremonies took 875 days. Literally over ten times as long. And no one should forget Jones' confession of privately telling Johnson for decades that he would put him in the Ring.

Tex Schramm would be proud.

I believe this rant has merit for the conversation because this is the only person making the current decisions of which Dallas Cowboys legend gets in and, more importantly, when they get in.

Lol! Philly has a statue of a fictional boxer....goes to show how stupid they are. Are you presenting Jerry at his induction? If so, keep it short....his attention span isn't that great.

Bold> There are not any automatic inductions (e.g. elections) into the Hall (link):

How Are New Enshrinees Selected? - In order to be elected a finalist must receive a minimum of 80% of the vote.

How are Senior and Contributor Candidates Chosen? - Although the Senior Nominee(s) and Contributor Nominee(s) will be presented to the full Selection Committee as a finalist, their election to the Hall of Fame is not automatic. The Senior Nominee(s) and Contributor Nominee(s) must receive the same minimum 80% of the vote as a Modern Era candidate to be elected... To keep the maximum number of nominees elected at no more than eight per year, the Senior finalists will be reduced from two to one per year in years one, three and five of the same five-year period. In years two and four and each year thereafter, there will be two Senior finalists, as is now the practice.

Locks in the near future:
  • Jason Witten
  • Tony Romo
Locks in next decade:
  • Tyron Smith
  • Zack Martin
Witten, Smith and Martin are future NFL HOFers.
I'm a big Romo fan, but I don't think he makes it to the ROH.
Not in the HOF. Not even close. He won't make it to the ROH.
It's too bad. Tony is such a great story for the Cowboys. And for the NFL.

They didn't let Romo come back in 2016. You wouldn't do that to a player you plan to put in the ROH. And on the flip side, *having* not let Romo come back in 2016, it will then reflect poorly on Jerry to then admit Tony was ROH material.

Almost Antonio. A career of almost but just not quite.

Right , it’s not automatic but it has been the norm in recent years. Sorry I didn’t stipulate. Thanks

Jerry wanted Romo back at the helm, it was Garrett that wanted to stick with Dak.

Witten if any. As much as I like Witten, his teams didn't accomplish anything and for me, that is a major factor for being in the ROH. I also would not have put Ware or Haley in. I actually wonder if Jerry is considering Deion (I hope not).
