Question about signing Tank

If he is signed, do we have to cut someone or does he automatically go on the suspended list and not the active roster? We need to keep Remi until Tank can play and theres noone else I'd be okay with cutting. I'm hoping that we can just cut Remi and put him on the practice squad after activating Tank in week 9.

I thought they could sign him since he's on the suspended list and doesn't take a roster spot. But once he's off the suspended list, they have to cut somebody.

Doube we take the chance to cut Remi. He'd have to go thru waivers and somebody else might grab him. That would leave us with no backup for Ratliff for the next 6 weeks. We also can't cut a player with long-term contract cause costs would all come due this year. So it's probably a player signed to only a one year contract who might not have to go thru the waiver.

He would have to agree to a contract with another team. Given that he's actually getting playing time here and is familiar with the defense, I doubt he'd actually sign with another team.

They could put in a claim, but would he be forced to sign a contract?

My understanding is that most players sign the contract because they'd rather be on the 53 man roster of another team than on the PS of the team that just cut them. But if Remi he knew he'd be on our 53 man roster immediately he wouldn't necessarily sign the other contract.

Regardless, if we wouldn't have to cut him, it's a meaningless conversation anyway.
