Knowing pretty much who the DL Players are currently (we may take a DT in Draft) but right
now who would you start on the DL ?

Also who's better Taco or Kony ?

I'm thinking Lawrence, Irving, DT from Draft and Kony...your thoughts...

Crawford will be healthy and can play inside. I see us getting a DT but if it’s not top 2 rounds do you think he will be a immediate starter? We also have Collins, I think we all forget we have him.. lol. And Tapper. We have a great rotation., but need a space eater in the middle.

Collins ? also forgot about Price I honestly don't like Taco starting
Crap I forgot about Price. Ya know we actually have a lot of talent cultivated on that line.Taco will really have to show out to beat Irving and D-Law. I see them as bookends with Collins and maybe a healthy Crawford in the middle.

Our starting 1-Tech will come in the draft.

So Lawrence, Collins, 1-Tech and Irving will start. Taco will rotate in heavily.
Will have to be high pick to be a starter. That’s a key spot in the line to count on a rookie.

When I look back a few years ago at the starters on the D-line, like Selvie and Nick Hayden to name a couple, we've come a long way baby. Another forgotten piece is Datone Jones who can rotate in and out. Taco will get his share of reps and if he continues to improve the share will get bigger. Now if we just had that big DT1 we've been talking about for a few years the D-line would certainly hold it's own against any team in the league. Have to keep our eye on Price and se what he has.We have come a long way. I like the Ealy signing. Now let's get after the LB'er depth in the draft

Current DL on the roster. But hard to say at times on a few of them, DT or DE.

Lawrence
Crawford
Collins
Charlton
Ealy
Irving, once he signs his tender
Tapper
Price
Ash
Ross
Neal
Jones
Gregory, if reinstated

I believe we kept 8 DL to start the season last year, which surprised me a little. They we would have kept 10. However we had 2 suspended, 3 if you count Gregory.

My guess at the top 9, as I think we will keep 9 this year.
Lawrence, Crawford, Colllins, Charlton, Ealy, Irving, Gregory, Tapper, and a draft pick.

If we keep 8, Tapper is out, depending on Gregory.

I just really hope we move collins back to 3t he was a beast at that spot and really struggled at the 1t last season.
He was hurt last year.

Marinelli likes guys who penetrate. They are in pass rush first mode. And also why we can get gashed against the run, if our guys don't play smart, IE David Irving.

Most likely it will look like this.

Crawford
Price/DP
Collins
Lawrence/Kony

Getting a 1T later in the draft will push Price. Collins gets the nod over Irving. These would be our early down packages. They may want to also keep Lawrence fresh on early downs.

Pass rush package could look like this
Taco
Crawford
Irving
Lawrence

Full blown pass rush package:

Lawrence
Taco
Irving
Kony

Can i just put it out there that I think Marinelli's schemes are absolute trash.

He hasn't been given a whole lot to work with until the last couple of years.

But I do think he lacks creativity and likes to play it safe far too much. He doesn't blitz a lot. Now that could be a result of not trusting his secondary. Not having a legit FS back there that you can count on making the right play plays into that.

I know a lot of folks want to poo poo our need there, but getting a top notch Safety would help in many ways.

For me it's James or Fitzpatrick. I would give up our 1st and 2nd in a heartbeat. This team has lacked playmaking on the defensive side of the ball for a while. And I'm still unsure if it's the scheme or the players. Leaning towards scheme though.

The Cowboys have met with three DTs projected to go in the first round - Vita, Payne, and Bryan.

I fully expect LB/DT to be the 1st and 2nd round picks. Vita or Payne if they’re there in the first. If not, Vander Esch and a DT in the 2nd.

My own best guess right now would be:

Lawrence - Collins - 2018 draft pick - Taco Charlton.

I think that's what the team would want most based on investment.

But it looks obvious to me that they plan to employ a heavy, heavy rotation of players.

Would love James. But he may be too rich.

Would love RSmith as well. But again, probably too rich.

After that, the safety draft positions for Reid and Bates are all over the place. I've seen mocks with Reid going in the first and also him going in the third.

I see him as a high second myself. I'd give up a fifth, maybe fourth to move up in the second to get him.

After Evans and LVE, I think there's a pretty big drop in talent at LB. With Lee's injury concerns, getting his replacement now makes great sense. And I think Evans fits the bill there. Still a little raw, but has everything else you'd want. He could even play some MLB with Smith moving to SAM.

And if smith is fully, or close, healthy I'd play around with him getting involved as a pass rusher in nickel and dime.

Then get a 1T in the third or fourth.

I like our DL rotation! IMHO, if we concentrate on LB, we could have a great defense. FINALLY!

you dont think Irving starts?
I got
Irving- Collins - Price - Lawrence

We need Collins to ball this year. I expect better performances from Collins and Taco coming off his rookie year.

I honestly don’t think we’ll take a WR with our 1st pick. This team is screaming for DT or LB talent. I’m 90% sure this is the pick. The remaining 5% is that we get bold and snatch Derwin James, though not likely.

I’ve sided with the get rid of Dez crowd, but it makes sense to roll with our homegrown diva one last season and go defensive heavy.
