Oh, Romo can throw the slant.

Do you remember the frozen rope he threw to Terry Glenn against the Colts? He put it on rope. I've seen him throw successful slants. They just seem to disappear from the playbook.

I'll give Jason Garrett credit for calling those slants against the Commanders. I think Romo's timing and his finger affected those balls.

The one that sealed the game against them back in 06? Yes I do. Perfectly thrown ball. Low and away from the defender. I loved how Parcells went for the throat instead of running the ball and punting.

I'm not saying he cant throw it. I'm just saying there are several times this past year pre, and post-injury that were just flat out ugly passes.

I do not know if this is why they are not called more frequently or not. I just know there are times that we've run slants, and it just doesnt work out.

One problem I did see with Romo is this. It was ugly for sure.

I think he rushes some short throws, like that throw to Crayton against the Eagles. He threw the ball while backing up. He let the ball go while moving backwards. As a result, the ball was behind him. It could have been a TD.

I don't know why he just didn't take a three step drop and let it fly. That is sloppy, and I blame poor coaching. Someone has to coach the guy and correct that stuff.

I think that's correct

look at some of the dumpoffs he throws to the backs

22-10 record

his offense last season busted previous Cowboys records

and i have yet to see him throw an Int or drop a pass

And his offense was 18th ranked this year.

Of course, you fail to mention we had Brad Johnson starting three games.

Or that our starting running back was in all essence out for the last three games.

Or that our backup RB was out for the last half of the season.

Starting LG played in only 3 games.

But thats the coordinators fault too though right?

No, they are facts, and excuses.

If you think that did not effect our potential production, that is ignorant.

*Edit* The statement that we were 18th in the league in total offense is incorrect. We were 13.

And if you do not include the three games Brad Johnson started, we are 4th in the league in total offense, and 10th in scoring.

But go on, fit your agenda.

I'm not sure if it's wise to ever get rid of a guy after one bad year. He still is on the short list of head-coaching prospects.

I'll say this....if he leaves for a head-coaching position, then I think TO stays.

If Garrett stays, then I think we'll let go of TO.

Just a simple prediction.

Jerry already said that the players are in place and that if we released a player like TO then we would not be able to give Ware his extension.

Stephen Jones said giving Ware his extension was the #1 offseason priority for Dallas.

Thus, you can put 2 and 2 together and figure out pretty easily that TO is going nowhere in 09.

So, if we bring in another OC at this point, and the offense tanks again next year, will it be the OC's fault, Wade's fault, or will anyone finally think that maybe our players (OL, WRs, QB) are not as good as we like to think?

I hope Garrett comes back for continuity on offense, to prove he can make the adjustments (he's only called plays for two years...he will get better), and because I just don't see a new OC doing that much better with the same cast.

Why exactly do you want him to stay?He is pretty sad as an OC in the fact that he didnt use the strengths of his players correct. Our QB and number #1 WR do not like him.Now its one thing with TO,but when Romo called him out that says a heck of a lot.
I think our GM gives guys way too much money way too soon in their careers.

Romo throwing him under the bus does say a lot.

yeah, it says he cant accept responsibility for his own stupid plays...nothing to do with the design of the offense or the play calls causes Romo to make some of the brain-dead type of decisions he makes...

Garrett deserves some criticism, but the fact is the QB is extremely mistake prone and doesnt seem to learn from them, the team doesnt work hard and there were a number of key injuries this yr.

We all know Romo's propensity for bone headed plays at inopportune times and they seemed to increase with the pinkie injury but what about his coach? Why didn't Garrett tailor his game plan around Romo's weaknesses and injuries? Why do we always have to go deep? Countless plays and countless drives were wasted on deep balls that resulted in nothing or turnovers ("Punts".) Choice came in and almost saved the day on many occassions, why did we wait so long on that and why didn't we stick with what was working? Garrett is inept and I don't think he has the personality to command respect and accountability from these rock stars, it's turning into an epic disaster.

I think all of us have answered this a half dozen times. But good luck with the new thread to express your opinion of him.

Answered it? :lmao2: Try "avoided it" half a dozen times; and actually, it's been avoided far more than that.
