This is kinda random, but for all of you who are parents and have kids. We're obviously all die hard Cowboys fans here at the Zone, but let's say one of your kids turned it to be a fan of a different team like let's say the Iggles or Giants. Would you have a serious issue with that or just let them be?

Hmm. Maybe you should ask your parents about you supporting the lakers? I bet they were pissed!

They didn't really care. They're not really into basketball. It's my brothers and other family members and friends who are Spurs fan that are pissed loll.

Let them be, I would be happy if they turn out to be sports fans at all. Now, that is not to say I won't try a little persuasion :)

Consider your blessings if they even like football.

I wouldn't try to persuade them to root for or against against any team. Let them find their team they like. As much as we all love our Cowboys, this isn't life or death and shouldn't be treated for more than it is.

bye.

I try and bring them up as Cowboy fans, but you can't control their opinions. You try to bring them up the right way. You know, the best team in sports, the importance of not trying to get back something after you've given it as a gift. Things like that.

You just won't let that go will you? :laugh2:

I have 2 girls and neither show any interest in football or sports. They used to sit and watch games with me when they were little now I fight for the tv.:) My youngest knows that Daddy's favorite team is the "stars". lol I figure if they grow up to like anything sports related I'd be happy!

I'd like to go to a baseball game without getting 2 innings in and hearing the "Daddy I'm bored, is it over?" lol

Haha, I am in the same boat. My girl is almost 3 and everytime she sees a star of any kind, she spouts out "daddy's cowboys"

As for baseball, when it is gametime, I hear "no, I don't wanna watch the Mets, I want Cailou"

Lol yep. I'm thankful for 2 tvs with access to NFL Network!

I don't plan on having kids for awhile, but when I do I'll hope and pray they're Cowboys and Lakers fans. If they're not I think I'll just let them be. I won't force them to root for my teams. That would make me a hypocrite. My parents didn't force me to root for a certain team I rooted for whoever I wanted.

Considering how I turned out my kids will probably be Eagles and Celtics fans. :laugh2:

I live in Chefs country so most of my family and friends are Chefs fans. My dad is a Chefs fan and still shakes his head that I defected.

Trust me,.......with all the pitfalls and problems a kid can run into growing up, the LAST thing you should even be thinking about is what sports team they cheer for, if they cheer for one at all. Totally unimportant.

THIS^^

Then again, I have 2 sons (25 & 22) & 2 daughters (20 & 12) and they are all loyal to the Cowboys & STL Cardinals. An added bonus. :D

I would just be happy my kids were into sports.

As long as they are informed, intelligent fans I wouldn't care.

Gifts might be a little light around the holidays...

When she was younger she'd watch games just to stay up past her bedtime lol. Just this summer she got a little interested because she watched the movie Longshots and loved it so I put on the movie Little Giants and she enjoyed that too. I warned her that a real game is NOTHING like the movies, but she decided she'd give it a try when the season rolls around. Id be ECSTATIC if she enjoyed football period, Cowboys or not (though she's every bit the daddy's girl so I'm sure she'd jump on the bandwagon). My father is a (dare I say it) Giants fan, and I actually enjoy the rivalry and the "friendly" debates we engage in, so I'm good either way.

as a parent i can tell you...being born and raised in Texas, if any of my kids grow up to be Aggie fans instead of Longhorn fans that would be a big problem in the household. and as a father my sons can pick any team in the NFL to root for except Pittsburgh.
