I know he's your favorite, I read your post :)

I just think that he's overrated. I think he's a novelty.

I'm 27, and if we're talking contemporary:

1. Jay Z
2. Kanye
3. Lupe Fiasco
4. Ludacris
5. Bun B

If you want to go back, the list is endless.

I was baffled that Lupe wasn't mentioned earlier.

Current:

1.Lupe
2.Andre 3000/Outkast
3.Wale
4. kanye
5. Kid Cudi

Grew up listening to the Roots, Wu Tang, Tupac, and Big L.

24 years old.

He does, I agree. All of his albums are the same, though. Two parts to every Em album:

1. Silly song designed to play to my teenage male audience.

2. Gritty, tough, "Marshall Mathers" track to appeal to my older fans; generally composed of any combination of the following four elements: a) I hate my ex b) I hate my mom c) my life sucked growing up d) haters gonna hate.

3. A ton of filler.

rinse and repeat for 10 years.

Pretty much nailed #2. I'd throw his daughter Haley in as a topic as well.

-----------
Also how can you put Jeezy in your top 5? He may have some of the best produced songs in years, but he is far from a good rapper. He rhymes the same word routinely.

I'd love to see wat other rappers would do on some of his beats. His production is A+ though. So whoever makes his beats is legit.

I encompassed them both as OutKast, because without Big Boi there would be no Andre as we know him today. But yeah...ATLiens, Southernplayalisticadillacmusik, Aquemini? Aquemini has to be a Top 5 hip-hop album of all time.

I love me some Big Boi as well, his last album is very good, listened to it for two weeks straight.

His first three albums - Slim Shady LP, Marshall Mathers LP, and The Eminem Show are great. So is his latest, Recovery. His freestyles are also awesome.

He raps with intensity and heart.

My favorite all-time easily.

He raps with intensity SOMETIMES. When he's not really interested, he can be among the worst rappers I've ever heard.

I think after his first three he ran out of inspiration and things to be mad about, you can only rap about your past for so long before you get to the point where you made it, got money, got comfortable and things aren't so bad anymore.

I'm sorry but Eminem is overrated.

I was talking with a few friends and we were actually saying how he is underrated...

Some of his lyrics are just so insanely good

edit-I do understand that he is extremely popular

I'm 17, this is really hard to narrow down to 5 but as of right now:
1. Ice Cube
2. Wu Tang Clan
3. Murs
4. Sean Price
5.Big L
Honorables:ATCQ, Dom Kennedy.
I really dont like my generations hip hop besides a few exceptions, hip hop isnt dead, it went underground.

I've kinda soured on Em, also. He has definitely lost his edge and doesn't seem to spit with that fire anymore. I went from being amazed by his mic prowess to being uninspired by his newer material.

His last cd wasn't bad, besides his terrible attempt at singing lol

1. Eminem
2. DMX
3. Public Enemy
4. NWA
5. Dr. Dre

I love the Beastie Boys, Rage Against the Machine & Kid Rock too, but I figured you're asking about straight Hip Hop, so I didn't add them to the list. And I'm 34 yrs. old.
