I‘m not happy with Dak’s play this year, but you bring up the very point that argues against this being a Dak problem. He was 2nd in MVP voting in the very same scheme with the same play caller. So what’s different is two rookie OL, Steele still not great, Martin declining further from age, and no Tony Pollard.

So bad running = more difficult passing + more pressure and you are going to get worse QB play. Thats not difficult to predict. I’d like to think the OL can get better over the year. All that said, I don’t think Dak is playing very well either, but I can’t put it all at Dak’s feet either.

Everyone saw this coming which is why Jerry is getting grief and he is getting all defensive.
Dak ended the season with 5 INTs in his last 5 games. He got curb stomped by the Bills, was lucky against the Lions and was doo doo against the Packers.

He wasn’t MVP in the last quarter of the season, nor the first, He saved his worst game for last and should have had 3 picks going into the half, not 2.

He stink it up until they made changes during the bye. He only beat bums and still sucked against teams playing quarter coverages.

You said they had the most expensive team money can by.. you don’t know what you are talking about and I don’t even think you watched them play, the NFC wasn’t the trash dump it is now with Dak playing either.. plus the NFC owners the AFC back then.
Did they not buy Deion and Charles Haley to get us over the top???

I forgot it was all Troy Aikman.

Aikman came into the league 35 years ago as the #1 pick to an abysmal team that only got worse his first year in the league. Different players, rules, refs, schemes, environment, competition, etc. There was a period of about four to five years where the team was top quality and highly competitive and he capitalized on it. Everything outside of that was on the way up or on the way down depending on which JJ had control.

Comparing their stats without this context as if this equalizes them is stupid.
Beyond moronic but it is the only argument he has now

Arguing stats

The Cowboys traded for Charles Haley because Jerry Rice and other 49ers players wanted him gone.

Deion Sanders was signed during the 1995 season after the Cowboys and 49ers won SBs (Cowboys 2, 49ers 1) from 1992-1994.

Kevin Smith the Cowboys best corner at the time, tore his achilles during the first game of the 1995 season.

But we had to out pay other teams to get them correct.

Haley helped with the first 2 and Deion with the 3rd.

What does that have to do with offense?
Didn’t we sign Amari, draft multiple OL, draft Zeke and bring in Cooks and so on. Didn’t we add Micah Parsons, pay Diggs, sign Tank, draft Bland and have the number 1 ranked TO defense 2 years on a row and the defense held the 49ers to a 17 point average in the playoffs and Dak as usual threw picks and played like garbage?

And BTW, Deion wasn’t added to “get us over the top”. We won 2 SBs without Deion buddy.

The more this guy posts, the more you know he never watched them play.

No, the difference is the quality of opponent. Dak faced the worst passing defenses in the league last season.

This is a knock on him his entire career. Hes a frontrunner. Low stake games against poor opponents, he looks all-world. Any team with a pulse and he folds. Every single time

Your right. It was all Troy.
Nobody said it was all Troy.. that’s a false axiom to argue from buddy.

notice how you ignored the fact the turd was doing what he is doing now against the 48ers two years in a row in the playoffs… Dak had been playing in the garbage NFC East his whole career here.

I’m not really interested in defending Dak — a lessor contract and folks would be less up in arms about him. That said if we magically put Mahomes in this situation and I’m not sure how much better it looks. What would Dak look like in an Andy Reid offense?

This team has problems everywhere. The points this team has given up has nothing to do with Dak.

I don't absolve Dak of blame, but he can't be expected to carry the offense.

the offense is one dimensional. It's Dak and the passing game. That gives defenses an advantage.

If the pass rush gets there... great. If not, it's OK because they're dropping enough guys into coverage to force Dak to have to hold the ball longer.

Defenses aren't worrying about defending the run because... what run. Play action isn't going to scare a defense.

Dak needs to make better decisions and understand that yeah, it is all on him. His WRs aren't going to give him much separation, so he needs to work harder on understanding when he can and can't risk a throw.

...then there's the OL :) Martin is struggling. Steele is Steele. Frankly, Guyton at RT might make more sense right now but they need help all over.

Why do this? We all know the defense is terrible. This thread is about Dak and you are defending him just as I stated in the op.

If Dak played for Reid, he would look just like the QB he modeled his game after. Alex Smith

Dak is an early read QB.

Dak would be Alex Smith in an Andy Reid offense..

People act like Reid isn’t tailoring the offense to Mahones either. Plus year in and year out, Mahomes raises his play to another level in the playoffs and carries his team to the SB, whether his arm or legs.
