Question for all the "longtime Cowboys fans" who say that this is the end of the world:

Since you consider a 1-1 Cowboys team to be intolerable - and must bail ship NOW NOW NOW,

How did you ever manage to survive the Cowboys' inaugural 0-11-1 winless season in the league?

How did you ever manage to survive the "Next Year's Champions" decade of frustration of the 1960s (Ice Bowl, etc.?)

How did you ever manage to survive the 27-10 NFC Championship Game defeat to the Vikings in the 1970s, the three SB defeats to Baltimore and Pittsburgh (all three losses by only 3 or 4 points each,) the upset 1979 divisional playoff loss to the Rams?

How did you manage to survive the Cowboys getting slaughtered 38-0 by the Cardinals, 44-0 by the Bears, and 38-6 by the Lions?

How did you ever manage to survive the 3 straight NFC Championship Game losses in the Danny White era?

How did you ever manage to survive the 3-13 and 1-15 seasons in 1988-1989?

How did you ever manage to survive the 5-11, 5-11, 5-11 seasons between 2000-2002?

I'm actually very impressed by the newest generation of Cowboys fans. They remain loyal despite not witnessing so much as a playoff win.

You make an excellent point to the haters that are fans of other teams. You'll see it on every board of every team decrying the fact that Dallas has the most bandwagon fans. How can they be bandwagon if we haven't sniffed a playoff win in however many years?:confused::)

I remember when is was a little kid and we lost the Ice Bowl. We lived in Buffalo and I cried all night. My mother has been a life long Packer fan and I refused to speak to her for a TWO whole days. I'm serious.

Finally, my Dad pulled me aside and laid down the law. I waited another five years before we won our first Super Bowl. Unconditional love at 7 years old.

Just because we rant about stupidity and poor performance does not mean we will not survive. Our call to action is because we care and do not want to see the continual under-performance of the team.

If you experienced any of the bad years you listed, then you understand how it feels...and should understand why we don't want to see that again.

I made plenty of repairs to walls and doors that coincide with many of those unfortunate events in Cowboys history.

Tru dat. Remote controls are not impact resistant and granite countertops have less flex built in than your average hand/wrist. But, I can tell changes in the weather about 24 hours ahead of time since January 2006.

Win or lose, I love my Dallas Cowboys. I have since I was 6 years old. That's almost 29 years of dedication.

For me, that game was our loss to the Commanders in the NFC Championship game in 1983. I remember just going outside and crying after watching us lose that game.

The 80's were some lean years after those 3 NFC Championship losses, but I never waivered from my love of the Cowboys. Even in Jimmy's first season when we went 1-15 I still bragged because we beat the Commanders for our only win and they won the superbowl that year. The 90's was an absolutely awesome time to be a Cowboys fan after going through those lean years. Right now were in those lean years again, although not as bad as the 80's or early 2000's, but soon we'll be celebrating another Cowboys Championship.

I'm with ya on that! We'll see another Championship sooner than later. This season ain't over just yet. Don't we have something like 14 games yet to play? ;)

With all the success the Cowboys have had it's pretty damn easy being a Cowboys fan. Just asking how you make it shows how spoiled some fans are.

Nothing compares to losing Super Bowls. That's what really hurts, anyone not old enough to remember those has no freaking idea.

Buffalo Bills fans, now there's you an interesting group to ask. Those are some gluttons for punishment.

Don't even bring up the revolving door of atrocious quarterbacks, and the screams to trade/cut Emmitt Smith in favor of Troy "Where My Coke At" Hambrick :bang2: :bang2: :bang2:

I guess that shows that you did not understand the reasons. I suggest you try to do so before you conceive an opinion.

I'll never understand those that just can't stand to hear any criticism of the Cowboys.

Is this team perfect?

Why is it so wrong to discuss the imperfections of this team on an internet discussion board dedicated to talking about this team?

Why?

Thats a very good question, and here is my answer. I am not saying doom for this team and to bail ship. There still is a chance, because like you say, its just 1-1 so far. Alot of time to fix things.

My biggest complaint is, why do you always wait to fix things wade. You first said in 2007 when the team started losing in december, everything is ok, dont worry. Then same thing in 2008, everything is ok, quit worrying. Everything will be fine, but it wasnt. Then at the end of the season you say, everything isnt ok, and changes need to take place.

Ok, so you listened finally after your big rear end is on the line and you know it. You listened to albert breer and tried to fix the special teams by hiring some special teams players but you still had knucklehead read for a special teams coach. That isnt the answer wade, look at the way coaches were fired during the offseason this year, 3 coaches were fired for not doing their job.

Now wade lets look at the team this year. Jerry did what you wanted, got rid of T O, Pacman, Tony (one of the lackluster players with no motivation-still some players here like that by the name of carpenter and proctor on this team), Tank Johnson. Then wade jerry let you have brooking, Igor and Sensabaugh. Then wade jerry let you have special teams players to fix the special teams with good special teams coach Joe D.

So lets look at what has changed good ole wade, offense is clicking with jason garrett as offensive coordinator, the special teams are clicking with coach Joe D, but the defense is still awful, you had to fix the run defense after week 1 wade, you have to fix the pass defense now wade,. You say, we didnt have as good as man to man coverage now, as you thought, but you also said, well, i didnt run the multiple blitz packages as i should have in preseason, because I DIDNT WANT TO GET PLAYERS HURT!

That is on you wade, your the defensive coordinator, Jason Garrett is doing his job, 30 plus points in each game so far, special teams are better, why arent you doing your job wade?

Are you going to wait and sit on your big rear end again to fix things that you should have fixed in preseason and offseason conditioning. There are no more excuses wade!

Now, back to me being a long time cowboy fan, i was here since 1966 rooting for the cowboys. I have been through the ugly, the bad, the fair and the good of seeing the team built 3 times. Yet, I have been rooting for them through all phases.

So, to a degree I know when I see something wrong. What i have to work on is like DC Fanatic says dont buy into all the hoopla that wade is giving you just because he pounds his fist and says we are going to do the job, or because of what jerry jones says. Jerry puts a spin on things too, you have to be able to read between the lines.

If things were done as wade should have done them, things would have been better. So, thats why i am upset at wade and players like Newman, Ken Hamlin, Romo and Flozell that get a ton of money and they play like they do.

Its like bradie james said the other day, its fine to admit your wrong nad you played lousy, but just words arent going to fix this. You have to go out and do the small things, the extra work, extra practice and correct things. It has to be done, but pray tell, what signal does that send when your supposedly top defensive guru like wade as defensive coordinator lays an egg on his defense and has to continually fix things, when he was hired in the first place to fix the defense.

Some people arent doing their job, as coaches and players, and they need their rear end kicked. Till that happens this team is in trouble, accountability must be held to the highest degree and like wade said it all starts with him.

There are no "longtime Cowboys fans" bailing right now. Nobody who went through all those things would leave the Cowboys because of Sunday's game. Why even bring it up?

Why?

It's not the discussion itself. It's the illogical gloom and doom and refusal to give credit where it's due all in the name of reality AKA negativity.
